i have mixed feelings about this:
I hope your right about OSU beating Penn St. and Iowa, but I don't want them to get destroyed by what seems to be a very fast Oregon team...I think Alabama will beat UF in the SEC title game. Just a guess...GaTech/Cincinnati would be a fun game to watch...

I picked Ohio State since I feel they'll find a way to beat Penn State close. Also, Iowa's strong tendency to comt turnovers and survive can't last forever. Try that against a quality team - Ohio State - in Columbus and you're lookin' to get your ass kicked.
I think Alabama's performance against Tennessee made me realize they were a team that can be beaten. The Tide is on a mission to be sure but Florida has known nothing but success while Alabama is stll seeking it. BY "success" I mean being THE TEAM TO BEAT - ANYWHERE. You could be right and it would be Alabama vs. Texas but I'm basically throwing dart. UF seems to be getting better (if that is possible!). Alabama's offense is sputtering a bit but Florida's has as well. "Flip a coin" in other words.
You concern s. Oregon is the same kind of concern I have about Oklahoma playing USC in any bowl game. Give Carroll a month to prepare and he'll kill you. OU is poor at making adjustments so they'd lose the second half. They're hope has always been to build an insurmountable lead and then trade scores. I think Oregon beats whoever they meet in the Rose Bowl - sorry.

Given that result, I think both TCU and Boise St will get both at-large BCS slots, if one of them does not make the title game. Iowa will end up in the Citrus (or whatever it's called these days) if they lose the Big 10. Big 10 WILL NOT get two BCS bowl teams no matter what. SEC will be the only conf to get two (Florida and Alabama).

Playoff anyone?
Lets see, in your scenario you've got an undefeated Big East champ, Mountain West Champ, WAC champ, a 1-loss ACC Champ, and Big 10 Co-Champ...
this is getting ridiculous...seriously

"if one of them does not make the title game" ?????? LOL, Zoom. Mid-Majors aren't permitted to make title games in this two class, mythical system.

BCS at-large teams
SEC is going to get two teams.
A non-BCS team will make it (TCU or BSU), but not both.
That leaves two slots.
Texas is the only B12 team that could get an at-large and only if they lose the B12 CG, which is unlikely.
The ACC is pretty much eliminated from two teams.
That leaves the Big Ten, Big East, and Pac 10 vying for those last two slots. The Big Ten looks very good for 2 out of Iowa, PSU, and tOSU - all good draws for TV and good traveling teams. The odds are one of the slots goes to the Big Ten.
The last slot likely will be the Fiesta and the odds are pretty good that they would want USC. So, the odds for a 2nd Big East team aren't very good.

Keep us informed, JH. Check in more often. How about one of those Conference performance updates vs FBS, BCS groups etc. ? Thanks

James (Howell) please correct me if I'm wrong in the pecking order here ...
The Rose Bowl, by decree/agreement or whatever you call it, automatically selects the Big Ten and Pac Ten champions unless they are in the national championship game and that is being played elsewhere.
I also think the orange Bowl has an autobid to the ACC champion.
So we've got three conference champions assigned before the selection process even commences. In my scenario those teams would be Ohio State, Oregon and Georgia Tech.
1.) Sugar Bowl: SEC will pick first since their champion is mandated to go elsewhere so bowl is vacated. I say they stick with an SEC powerhouse and choose Alabama.
2.) Fiesta Bowl: The same situation applies to this bowl and the Big 12 since the Big 12 champ is mandated to go elsewhere. being in Pac ten country they select Southern Cal as it guarantees a huge draw.
3.) Orange Bowl: Selectees remaining are Big East champion, Cincinnati,or at-large teams, Iowa, Penn State, TCU, Pittsburgh (10-2) or West Virginia (10-2). I use the "or" here because the loser will be 9-3 at best if Cincy wins out. The go for the undefeated Big East champion, Cincinnati.
4.) Now it would seem the Sugar bowl picks up the highest ranked at large team (TCU) but I think they go with Iowa. The Hawkeyes wouldn't mind as there is already one Big Ten-Pac Ten BCS bowl game. But you just never know. I think Iowa brings a larger, more party-oriented horde into New Orleans. Lets faceit ... BCS = $$$ and this is first and foremost in the minds of selection committes. So they pick Iowa.
5.) Last, the small Christian schools finally makes its way into the big time football post season. The Fiesta picks TCU. The best of the mid-majors vs. the pirenneal power of this decade, USC.
