It has now been released that Hasan's weapon was an FN 5.7 pistol, aka the "Cop Killer" gun, because the 5.7 round is basically a 5.56 assault rifle bullet that was compacted to fire from a handgun. It has ballistics similar to the 5.56 assault rifle round (M16) but fires from a small pistol and goes through body armor like it's butter. These pistols are as available to the public as any standard Glock or plain ole 6 shooter revolver. And are LESS available than your basic AK-47 assault rifle, which an 18 year old can buy, but the same 18 year old can't buy a pistol until he is 21 (go figure, liberal gun law irony).
So, lock and load boys. Allah is at war with us. God hope that none of us will ever need to be heroes. But if so, lets hope we'd all be as brave and heroic as that female civilian cop that engaged and wounded Hasan before he could do more damage.
