If they lose 1st round game as #7 seed I think they might be in trouble. The Henderson flagrant foul puts a spotlight on how far they have fallen. 4-6 in last 10 games isn't exactly finishing strong. The committee says that they don't look at the RPI to get teams in, only for some seeding. I think it could be a nervous sunday in Durham.

Their non-conference shedule was absolutely brutal. Air Force, Davidson, Indiana and Georgetown are tourney teams. Gonzaga is likely a tourney team. Kent State, George Mason, Holy Cross and UNC Greensboro aren't great wins, but certainly not cupcakes. Thats 9 solid to very good OOC wins, plus 8-8 in the ACC means you're in. The way they are going, they might be dipping to a 6 seed or so, but they are definitely in.

they are listed currently as a 7 seed in the latest bracketology. If they take another dump against NC State on thursday night, I could see an 8 or 9 seed.

BTW, Georgia Tech is on the bubble with 8-8 ACC record (split with duke) and games with wins over (at)Memphis, Purdue, and games against UCLA & at Vandy that just got away from them. They are 7-2 in their last 9 games, duke is 4-5. The duke win over Air Force(last team in from MWC) is looking less impressive as AFA is 4-5 in their last 9 games.

I don't believe NOT getting is an issue with Duke. I think they took care of that much earlier with the reached (and exceeded) the .500 mark in conference record.

Maybe a 7 seed is in order, and maybe less. Who knows. They are in. Right now I would guess a 6, but I am not on the committee.

I am underselling GT a little. If they beat Wake in the first round I'll definitely have them in. Nice wins over Purdue, Memphis and UGA out of conference. Solid profile. Even if they lose they're still likely in.

they finished 8-8, they didn't exceed the .500 mark.

2 years ago Virginia Tech finished 4th in the ACC with an 8-8 record and didn't get invited. Somehow I don't think Duke will suffer the same fate.

I think it is funny that they are a #7 seed in the conference tourny yet are a "lock" to be a 7 or better in the NCAA tourny. Let's hope that NC State heats up like they did against VT.
