Rutgers did it last year, they ruined Louisville's National Title hopes on a weeknight...and now, here's another perfect opportunity to ruin a top team's National Title dreams, and vault themselves back in the Big East race and national spotlight

They beat South Florida last year and I think they've got a great chance to do it again...USF is too great to the spotlight, I think they get nervous and unfold

The second #2 team goes down in less than a week

Very real chance of that. Getting that #2 could be a curse for USF, because they are new to this hype. And you know the Bulls players went from thinking about winning each week and hoping to be in the Big East race....to all of a sudden.....being in the National Championship if the season ended today. That mindset could easily have them looking at what Ohio St is doing, and what other teams are doing, and forgetting that Rutgers could put a boot in their rear!

You've got 14 Jersey boys and 6 New York boys starting for Rutgers( 20 out of the starting 22 position players)...and one Canadian

USF starts 20 Sunshiner State boys and 2 Georgia boys. Given your Southern Speed Superiority doctrine, B90, how can you possibly be worried about a loss for USF........with this huge speed mismatch ?

Ha ha, guess I asked for this one, huh?

Well, Rutgers running game worries me. They can control the ball very well, and in a running game that emphasized between the tackles plays, defensive speed is not much of a factor. For USF to win, they are going to have to force 2nd and Long on Rutgers. Make them pass. And they are going to need to beat them on special teams. Rutgers D vs USF O, IMO, is a toss up. I see the keys to the game being special teams and Rutgers running game. If USF wins special teams, and keeps Ray in check, they'll win. If not, #2 could fall again.

Nah....just too obvious a pick. If USF gets upset it will be elsewhere. They'll be more than ready for Rugters. Look for Pitt, Uconn, or some other unsuspecting Big East foe to trip them up when no one is looking but they will beat Rutgers fairly easily.

They'll be ready, but I'm not sure if USF matches up so well against Rutgers. Rutgers can run the ball very well between the tackles, which negates USF's defensive speed. Control the ball, get a couple big plays on special teams, and Rutgers can control the game.

FWIW I took Rutgers in this game for just the reasons you describe. I also think that Ray Rice will have a huge game. The USF team is not awesome like many think. They ARE very good, but the Auburn team they played was HORRIBLE at the seasons start. Re-match tomorrow on a neutral field? who knows. Anyway, look for RUtgers to win and by a suprising margin at that.

decent but hardly dyanmic offenses from first maryalnd and then cincy moved the ball all day vs rutgers weak run d and putrid secondary...maryland just pushed them backwards all game with their running game.......usf qb grothe looks like the real deal and their running game is above average....so, rutgers is gonna have to score a lot here..they cant win a 17-14 game...they have their backs ot the wall,,or shoudl i say their backs to turnpike traffic here...they must win or suffer a 3rd loss and a downturn in program success...all that florida speed means nothing.,..this will be a very physical, smashmputh game, which is to usf's advanatge...usf has beaten more athletic teams in auburn and wvu; rutgers got beaten by two less ahtletic teams that that in maryland and cincy......cant see USF having too much of a letdown here agaisnt a bad rutgers d...but i'll root for the joisey boyz and this one wil go down to the late 4th qtr....

I think you have a running and passing tandem at Rutgers whereas you have just Grothe with South Florida. I see The Scarlet Knights wining this game (USF is just a 2.5 favorite).
