,,,two explosive, high octane offenses...the remarkably gifted Cal skill position talent engineered by vastly improved nfl-bound qb nate longshore and the extremely effective Tedford playcalling vs. the always fast and effective belotti offense, amped up this season by two excellent running backs and a special, smart and versatile QB in dixon!..i can't wait for this one!...you know the ball is going up and down the field all game..so , which defense is adequate enough to slow the other offense down in what will be game of "Racehorse football"??????...i am thinking oregon's defense, riddled and rampaged upon by houston in the opener and performing poorly vs stanford last week, eventually folds and Cal prevails with a few good second half defensive stops...what is anyone's take on Cal and Oregon's respective D's?

I feel because the game is at Autzen, the Ducks have a big advantage, and the defense will feed off of it. The Ducks CB's are weak, but the Bears aren't strong up front IMO. I see Jonathon Stewart and Dixon having big ground games. Oregon has been on fire offensively, and I cannot imagine too many defenses this side of LSU slowing them down much. Having been at that Oregon/Michigan game, the Ducks had players WIDE open all game long. With the way UM's D has looked of late, that might actually mean something.

It's going to be a fun game, thats for sure. I know Autzen is very, very loud, but don't forget both the offense AND defense use verbal audibles, so the noise will affect both teams. Is it supposed to rain there Saturday?
FWIW, I take Cal by 7.

Autzen is one of those 3.5 HFA venues vs the standard 3.0

We won't get into our civil disagreement on HFA, haha, but to consider: If the stadium gets loud when Cal offense vs Oregon defense is out, with Cal's offense you know Oregon is going to have a lot of post-huddle adjustments and checks to make verbally. That noise goes both ways.

Ask any CF HC which noise advantage he'd rather have
