I remember him saying how LSU had a tight end as quarterback....and now alot of people have JaMarcus Russell as the #1 draft pick?

He probably couldn't figure out how to transition to the new board.

Well Evil I think I described Russell as a offensive guard playing at the QB position and I stand by my discription. However I have paid for disrespecting Russell, I bet Notre Dame and took the points as I felt the only way ND gets beat was with a good deep passing game like Michigan and USC had! Russell picked them apart--so much for my judgement of talent! There have been great big guys playing the position before--Loritson(sp) at kentucky comes to mind--but drafting them in the first round/first pick? Maybe the game has p[assed me by!

There is a worry right now about Russell's weight. Weighed in at 265 at the combine!!!

Still goes Top 3 for sure

...QBs. Unless you are convinced you are looking at the next Elway, Aikman or Manning, wait until the 2nd round to take him. First round QBs take up way too much cap room and can only be justified if the a perrenial Pro Bowlers. With Russell, is anyone convinced they have another Elway here...or even Steve McNair/Daunte Culpeppar?

LSU and USC should have played in the Rose Bowl...that game would have been much more exciting...

I didn't really enjoy watching the Sugar Bowl...unlike alot of Irish haters on here, I like ND and have alot of respect for them...LSU is just loaded with too much talent now days to lose to Notre Dame...it would take a complete coaching wreck, and while Les Miles probably isn't the greatest coach, he's good enough to get by...everyone knew ND would get blown out, and thats what happened...

Very True! Since 1980 I believe only 6 QB's drafted in the first round have won Super Bowls (Aikman - 3, Elway - 2, McMahon,Dilfer,Roethlisberger,Manning - 1). There have obviously been others that have been good/great selections despite not winning SB's (Marino,Kelly,Bledsoe,Palmer,Testaverde)...last years batch appear to be on track to win something down the road.

None of us know what will become of Jamarcus Russell, but I like what I see from him. UPSIDE is the key! The fear of passing on the next great one typically outweighs the fear of selecting a lemon.

...upside. However, with QB's it's "mental" upside for me. Other positions you can teach all the technique and get him bigger, stronger and faster to perform on the field. With QBs, will he be able to digest the playbook, be a leader, remain poised under fire. It's the intangibles with a QB. I think GMs have a really wacky way of measuring that type of upside.
