USC is the best team just by being couch potatoes

Ya we are scary, but in truth, we haven't faced a functional offense yet...the Middle Tennessee Offense we face next week might be the toughest test yet...they put up 42 points on Louisville

The funny thing is, if LSU meets USC in the Sugar and USC wins.....the anti-SEC people and USC people will be preaching "See, told you so, USC would've beat them in 2003!!"
But if LSU wins, few will assume LSU would have beat USC in 03. I really hate the 2003 and 2004 BCS scenarios. 3 years later and both years still bother me. 03 should've been USC vs LSU, 04 should've been USC vs Auburn.

Lousiville doesn't have LSU's defense.

Middle Tennessee has also lost to Florida Atlantic 14 to 27 this season, so don't put too much stock in the Blue Raiders.

Personally, I think it would be a miracle if both LSU and USC even get to the National Championship, let alone win their conferences...both teams have incredibly hard schedules...and the PAC 10 and SEC are brutal this year
I still think the Big East winner has a good chance at being undefeated...its a tough conference, but Pitt, Syracuse, and UConn don't impress me, so whether you're Rutgers or Louisville, you're looking at 4 tough games and whatever non-conference schedule you've put together
Oklahoma is looking good, and I also like Penn St. and Georgia Tech as teams to slip into the National Championship...Penn St. has to travel to Michigan, which might not be as hard as the usual yearly contest, and they get Ohio State and Wisconsin at home...Georgia Tech gets BC, Virginia Tech, and Clemson at home, and FSU isn't on the slate, although they could face the Noles in the ACC Championship game
Oklahoma's schedule doesn't look that daunting either...the Big XII south doesn't look as tough as I thought it would be, and OU misses K-State, Nebraska, and Kansas (Jayhawks might stir up things this year)...when you keep putting top teams on the field every year, eventually one of those teams is going to have some luck go its way and win it all...Bob Stoops doesn't get enough credit for the product he puts on the field every year...3 National Championship appearances is pretty damn good, and a 4th might get him another ring

You know, it's a gut feeling, but I think we are going to see a BCS disaster this year!!! For 2 years straight we've had fairly cut and dry 1 vs 2 games. No one really argued TX vs USC in 05, and last year there was some debate over if UF should've jumped UM at first, but after their performance vs OSU and UM's performance vs USC, there isnt anymore.
But this year, I can really see about 5 teams with a loss fighting for it. USC and LSU do play in brutal conferences this year. LSU has the CCG, that could boost their SOS even more. But both will likely take an upset loss. OU could finish 12-1, as could a team like Clemson, who could run the table in a down ACC this year.
The nightmare scenario I see unfolding is:
Penn State Big Ten champs, 11-1
OU Big 12 Champs, 12-1
USC Pac 10 Champs 11-1
LSU SEC champs 12-1
Clemson or GT ACC champs 12-1
UL/WVU/RU/USF Big East champs 12-0
I know we say this every year, but I just feel a HUGE contraversy is going to brew this season for the BCS and I'll love every minute of it! And yeah, 3 appearances since 2000 is pretty damn good. They have since 2000 3 appearances and 1 BCS title, while USC has 2 appearances and 1 BCS title. But you don't hear OU being the team of the millenium like USC is supposedly.

IMO, you've gotta go with the Big East champ vs. whoever the BCS formula spits out for the 1 loss teams...if you lose a game, you shouldn't gripe as much about not being in the championship...its not as bad as going undefeated and getting passed over IMO
as weird as it might sound, i think you can throw cincinnati into the big east national title mix. there coach is a winner, they looked impressive vs. o. state, and they knocked off usf and rutgers last season. they have 3 more winnable games before they play rutgers and louisville back to back weeks. so we'll know if they're a real threat by early october. if the cream of the crop of the big east keep playing well, there's going to be a lot of opportunity for any of those teams to knock off quite a few ranked teams on their way up the polls. it should be interesting to follow the rest of the season.

I think it is impossible for a Big-east team to get in to the MNC game Unless LSU, Oklahoma, or USC lose their last game in the CCG/USC vs UCLA(all played on Dec 2 I believe) game. I see 2004 all over again with big east assuming the Utah role.
you're right, if usc and lsu win out they're in pretty much no matter what. but if some of those schools like lsu, usc, oklahoma, etc. lose a game and a big east team is undefeated there's no way they're going to be left out. they're a member of the bcs, utah wasn't. that's the big difference. maybe more like auburn, but their better be 2 or more undefeated teams from bcs conferences. like i stated before, an undefeated big east champ could finished the season with 4 wins against ranked teams, that's just during conference play. that a lot of possible wins against ranked teams.

Utah was just as good as Auburn in 04, IMO. They all should've gotten a 'shot'
