Lloyd Carr's Michigan Wolverines are going to have a long year. Now Appalachain State is a wardog at their level and a superior team. It wopuld appear they took this game seriously - they better damn well have as it is a slow, painful death otherwise with 11 or so more games to open up those initial late summer wounds.

Lloyd Carr is out after this year regardless of how well Big Blue does. They'll have a pretty good season but at this stage you have to wonder what Indiana would be doing to them today had they met !!! Wolverines go 9-3 at the very best. Big Ten race is between Ohio State, Wisconsin, Penn State with Michigan State and Iowa challenging a 4th palce, Alamo Bowl bound, Michigan.

Les Miles will be approached with a very lucrative offer by his alma mater. One question I feel needs to be posed at this extremely early date ... who is LSU going to be looking at as their head coach for 2008?

...You said it well...glad to hear it form an expert-outsiders angle... NO ONE DOES LESS WITH MORE TALENT THAN LLOYD "POOCH PUNT STRATEGIST" CARR...

the biggest upset ever?

Definitely the biggest Michigan upset, but not overall. Losing to Appy State is like losing to a mid-level SEC team. Appy State is a very good team.

WOW...congrats to the Apps!

What a great football game.

Will Carr be fired by Monday?

I had suspected this would be Carr's last season; this loss simply cements it. He will retire after the season; Michigan doesn't fire coaches.

And to think the Wolverines have (it was aleged just 4 hours ago) or perhaps more correctly had a defense that others envied !!!

Now I can see ASU getting after them at the start and then angering the Wolverines. How dare you come in here and think you own this house. Then they tighten it up and crush the upstarts who collect their paycheck and limp home.

Have you noticed how the mid-majors, historically out of their league when playing "up", have brought in serious efforts lately and always on the road? What used to be fodder has changed drastically.

I'm watching Nevada at Nebraska and the Wolfpack came to play. Huskers seem out of synch even with the TD pass from Keller to Lucky - defensive brain fart.

East Carolina exposed VPI in my opinion. How many yards rushing did VPI get vs. a good East Carolina (at the CUSA level)?

What an amazing day !!!

Bo is rolling in his grave right now...

No, its Bo's ineptitude in hriing his stooge Carr and implictly forcing him all these years to play a stale, archaic brand of vanilla conservative, underachieving football that is in large part to blame for this...CArr is an utter. SLOW WITTED idiot; his postgame interview was a clichefest and he had the verbal skilsL to use the word "disappOinted" 5 times in a 30 second span...TWO BLOCKED FIELD GOALS????...UTTER LACK OF DEFENSIVE PREPARATION AND COAHCING MOTIVATION....THATS 112 POINTS GIVEN UP ON D OVER LAST 3 GAMES..michigans first 3 game losing streak since 1979....Todays Appy st loss- is exhibit "A" why carr shouLD have been fired after 2005 7-5 debacle...

Another Southern team beating a lead-footed Big Ten team. Why is everyone so shocked?

They also re-distributed their trophy case after making room for a National Championship trophy as that just disappeared today.

Don't be shocked if Carr sticks around another year, if they end up 9-3 at the end of the regular season he will not be fired.

1. The pressure of a National Championship is off and he will open up the playbook.

2. Michigan does not want to spend the money on a big time coach.

3. The coach they really want Jim Harbaugh, pissed off way to many important people with his comments.

tennessee sure was a step or two slower than Cal last night.. speaking of all that southern speed...

3- totally agree. Should've abandoned the "michigan only hires michigan men' philosophy years ago.
Les Miles in 2008? or do they make a play for Urban Meyer (not like he'll leave UF, much like Donovan stayed)

I wouldn't put a positive spin on this by saying they can open the playbook now that the pressure is off! Besides, what playbook? Run Mike Hart? 3 yrd pass to TE and 3rd and 9? Don't you think every coach that plays 'em are going to be watching the game film? They're defense is horrendous!

App. State turned out to be a good team, but did anyone think they'd win? (be realistic) This was a watershed win for that program.

How much does Lloyd make? I have a hard time believing they couldn't, or do not want to spend the money on getting a better coach...

Jerry Moore would be great! maybe. How about Larry Kehres???

Kehres is CF's all time master HC. He also has zero interest in any upward mobility...or gazillions of dollars. He is a happy man.

It's funny how EVERY time a northern team is beaten by a southern team someone trots out this myth...
