It's great that SI's columnist recognized West Virginia as having the 10th best combo in the backfield. But I think they whiffed on this one. In a sub role for an injured Steve Slaton, Owen Schmitt rushed for more than 100 yards last year in the Gator Bowl. He often lines up as a fullback, but also has played tailback. He is a true threat as a running back. And, get this, he's supposed to play some tight end this season. Freshman Noel Devine may well be fantastic, but Schmitt's been there for two seasons and proven himself.

Quarterback Pat White and Slayton both are highly effective. But add one more effective running back who can do some other things, too: Owen Schmitt.

Ball and Lattimore at MD deserve some recognition.. both capable of 1000 yard seasons.
