How many ACC teams do you think will make the NCAA Tournament and which one do you think they'll be??

I think BC, VT, UVa, and UNC are pretty much locks. They would really need to lose a lot of their last 5 games to fall out.

That really leaves Clemson and Duke. Clemson has the easiest road. Wake, Maryland, Duke and Miami are all winnable games. BC and VT will be tough because they are both on the road. But if Clemson wins 4 of these 6, I think they are in for sure.

Duke has to go on the road to BC,Clemson, and UNC. Those are going to be very tough, given how Duke is playing. However, if they manage to win those games, the ugly losses they have had recently will be probably forgotten by those bubble voters.

I don't see any other teams making it, short of winning the conference championship.

I wouldn't call Virginia a lock. They look more like that bubble team who will be on the outside looking in. That 17-7 record is deceiving and those 7 losses are against Purdue (a mid level B10 team this year), Appalachian State (a solid mid-major but still a surprising loss), and Utah.

They still need one or two wins against FSU or VT.

I think BC, VT, and UNC are locks. Clemson is close and will get in and Duke will slide in the end. If UVA gets in FSU gets in too.

I think Coach K is going to will Duke into the NCAA. He's such a competitor (I can say that even though I can't stand him).

Their toughest opponents are FSU, VT, and GT, and they have them all at home, where they've played well. They have road games at Wake and Miami.

There's no reason to believe they won't win 3 of those 5, and perhaps 4 of the 5.

That's why I think they are a lock.

Of course, all locks can be broken by a late season swoon. But based on how they've played, and their remaining schedule, I don't see the NCAA taking less than the top 4 teams in the ACC. And UVA is one of them.

Nevermind about Clemson.

You can't lose to Wake down the stretch.

According to the latest Bracketology, Maryland is solidly in. I would say that 3-2 over their last 5 would keep them in.

Clemson Basketball...proof that cupcakes are tasty but not filling and sustaining.

i've read they might get 8 teams in. that's ridiculous imo. no conference should get that many teams in. at this moment they only have 4 teams with a + .500 winning% (bc, vt, unc, uva). one team at .500 (duke) and the rest of the conference sitting below .500. and they're talking about 8? makes no sense to me.

8 teams isn't unheard. When you think about the grand scheme they are simply taking the bids the SEC would usually get (I don't see the SEC getting more than 4 teams in this year: Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, and UT).

Maybe they will get clock revenge on the Diookies tonight and get back in the picture..

I think they will need at least a 1st round tourney win to make the Dance...

I think the Clemson fans and player will be pumped to beat Duke tonight after what happened in Durham. I'm going out to watch the game tonight with abuddy or two as it has been my motivating carrot today, but I'm worried about watching yet another Duke loss this season. Adding fuel is the disrespect Clemson seems to be getting regarding its chances of receiving a tourney bid.

UNC is the only F4 hopeful.

UVA and Duke are Sweet 16 teams at best.

I agree that UNC is the only realistic Final Four team from the ACC, although Duke is coming on lately and definitely has the talent to do it.

I actually never count Duke out. Although, of late even their best teams have bowed out in the Sweet 16.

That's true.

Maryland just knocked of UNC which pretty much gives them a spot right now.

That was a great game.

It definitely had March Madness atmosphere.

As of today, UNC is a 1 or 2 seed depending on whether they win the ACC tourney. UVA, VT and Duke will fall within the 3 to 5 seed range. BC might be a 6 or 7 if they do not right their ship. Maryland looks like a 6 or 7 as well but is headed up while BC is headed down. Joe Lunardi has Clemson and FSU out as of today. For these two, a lot depends on how the non-BCS conference tournaments go. If the #1 seeds prevail, there'll be room for many mid-level BCS conference teams as most will not place more than 1-3 teams in the Big Dance.
