Best "loving father actor" that ever played football...
A damn good announcer for a lot of years.. I still hear his distinctive voice,
and a BEAST of a defensive lineman...
RIP.

I'd guess that many pro football historians would name Merlin Olsen as the 'all time' greatest defensive tackle along with Joe Greene.
The Sporting News named him the 25th greatest all around football player of the 20th Century (all positions).
This guy was truly GREAT...a monker that is much watered down these days. And of course , Merlin was a first class grand fellow.

I guess I would have to mention Alan Page and Bob Lilly in that very small group.

Great mention of Lilly. I forgot all about him....dumbth. As a matter of fact TSN named Lilly the 10th greatest FB player of the 20th Century and the greatest DT ever.
For fun, how about :
1) Bob Lilly
2) Mean Joe Greene
3) Merlin Olsen
4) Randy White
5) Alan Page
