I'm excited, boys. This is the 10th season for the Student Athlete Conference. It's a mythical league ( like everything else in d1A ) and features scholarship FB players that are relatively intelligent. SAC eligibility is based on a team average 1000 SAT score (old scale) or a Sum 85 ACT score. Only 8 Bowl Division (BD) programs out of 120 qualify. I'm the mythical SAC commissioner.
The Conference's big news for 07 is the coaching turnover. Half the league features new head coaches and staffs.
Rice loses the excellent Todd Graham to Tulsa. He took Rice to a PSEG last year !!!! David Bailiff comes up from champ Division (CD) Texas State, where he posted mixed results.
Troy Calhoun takes over for the great Fisher DeBerry at AFA. DeBerry is one of the all time 'most with the least' guys in CF coaching history. I loved it when he scared the hell out of Fulmer in Knoxville last season.....even with the disadvantage of having players with IQs of 30 points per man higher than UT's. Anyway, Calhoun is keeping the triple option but promises to throw 10X more than DeBerry.....hhhmmmmm.
Walt Harris flopped at Stanford and is gone. Promising Jim Harbaugh takes over. He posted a nice 29-6 record at CD San Diego. New young HC and a beautifully reconfigured stadium might have Stanford fans enthused for 07.
Stan Brock takes over at Army after a good 'try' by grand old guy , Bobby Ross. Brock was a Ross assistant. Army still remains stubburn with its offensive ideology.......a pro set passing game. Tough to make that work with the type kids recruitable to the academy...imo.

IMO, the top proven coaches in the SAC are the Johnson boys.... Paul at Navy and Bobby at Vandy. Paul Johnson is the new 'most with the least' guy in Bowl Div CF. He's won 4 consecutive SAC championships and always gets to PSEGs. Get this ...Navy's offensive line will average 6-1, 268 lbs, this season..AVERAGE !! That, friends, is a smallish OL for div III !! It's about like that every season, and Navy is consistently amomg the team rushing leaders. That tells you something about the intelligence, discipline, and toughness of those players at Annapolis (and the other academies )....and , of course, the coaching. BTW, the average starting offensive lineman in the BD is 6-4,301.

As far as NFL quality talent found in the SAC, Stanford had 14 ex players on opening day 06 rosters, NW had 11 and nobody else was close.
