This guy is living in the past. Can't the Pac 10 get someone in there with a vision for the future? This quote in particular really bothers me:

"My understanding of a plus-one model is it would include seeding of the teams," said Hansen. "... We oppose it primarily on the basis that we might be seeded out of the Rose Bowl."

Enough about the Rose Bowl tradition. You gave that up when you joined the BCS. It's people like this that are helping keep this ridiculous post-season format intact.

Before they threaten to pull out altogether, maybe they should argue in favor of a format that returns us to pre-BCS with a one game playoff to follow bowls. The Rose Bowl could host the Big Ten-Pac-10 every year. I thought this is what was originally meant by the plus-one model. While I do not favor this setup to a straight four team playoff, it would limit controversy. For example, my system agrees with the polls on the top two bowl winners more than the top two teams at regular season's end.

I say "enough" about the entire Post Season Exhibition game tradition....not just the Rose.

Hen - I'm with you on that. Unfortunately, the powers that be, for the most part, disagree. They want to keep the bowl structure in place at all costs which is why they now want to "work within the BCS Structure" by teasing us with this plus-one four-team playoff. They know that any legit 8 or 16 team tournament would mean an end to the bowl system for the most part, and it would be a financial risk for the six BCS Conferences. A risk that they are not willing to take at this point in time.
