Just heard it. What a classy grand fellow and football coaching genius this man was. We all know what a super NFL head coach he was and his offensive innovations shaped the game today.
But, Walsh had an admirable five year college coaching stint at Stanford. He was 34-24-1 there including 4 PSEG appearances in which he beat LSU, UGA, and PSU.......with Stanford 'student-athletes' !!!!!. That's coaching. Think of those Bowl wins over UGA & LSU.....coaching 'student'-athletes to whip 'athletes'
His .580 success rate at Stanford is almost as impressive as Spurrier's .662 at Duke.
