Due to their horrendous performance in the Big 13 championship game. Cinci ot TCU, but anyone OTHER than Texas....
I personally thing ANY of the the other three would beat Texas. Alabama will CRUSH the little tea-sips led by the little boy McCoy
I can't believe I'm for an SEC team to beat the Big 12. But it being Texas makes it so damned easy.
I got away from the tube when the game ended and began to put up our Christmas tree (what a pain). Is there really talk of the BCS potentially not being so in love with Texas?

Texas's defense played a dominating game... and, we found a way to win. That's what good teams do.
Bama will be a new game... and, we'll be ready!

Yep, and thats the farce of this system...and last year was the worst IMO
You had USC, Boise St., and Utah head into the postseason with a combined 36-1 record, and absolutely no shot at a National Championship...in essence, the entire western US was shut out last year
Utah was the only undefeated team after everything and they didn't have a share of the National Title? And you had Texas and USC sitting their with 1 loss, same record as the Gators and Sooners...
Now this year, here we are again. No one has even mentioned a word about Cincinnati and Tony Pike...TCU and Boise State are both undefeated.
Just retarded...
MasterBevo
12-06-2009, 08:47 AM
I do agree.. Cincy and TCU also have terrific teams... and, have every right to be playing for the title... but, they've also known all year, that they were not in the "right position".
What a screwy system...
MB, the way Texas played last night against a team with ZERO offense, your beloved Horns deserved to be passed over. Like the argument just made with USC and Utah disembowling their opponents last year and then being passed over was a travesty then Texas' performance last night was an endictment of their way overhyped season. Texas came in 14 point favorites, the mot of any team yesterday in a championship matchup. They stunk up the place. If it wasn't for Nebraska screwups you'd have bee shut out. Nebraska lost that game, Texas certainly didn't win it. And there is McCOy hoisting that trophy with teh flash bulbs going off in his face. What a line of crap thinking ths guy deserves a Heisman.

Jim... you're just a Texas hater... through and through.
You conveniently forget that at least 9 of Nebraska's 12 points also came from fluky plays..... Texas mistakes.
Nebraska has had a good defense all year... you said so yourself. Yet still, when they HAD to, Texas move the ball enough... to win.

hey a win is a win
Only in college football do we start dissecting wins and then comparing them with what we think could or should happen
Texas has every bit an argument as the other 4 undefeated teams
NOW, Imagine we actually had a playoff...and if Nebraska wins last night, headlines everywhere would say "Nebraska is back and hungry for a title". And Ohio State, Oregon, and Georgia Tech would be right in there with the undefeateds, and we'd all be drooling to see the first round matchups instead of waiting to see who gets screwed over

I don't they are going to vote Texas out, but there are reports of enough Harris Poll voters bumping TCU over Texas that it's going to make the BCS for #2 a lot closer than it otherwise. And based on what I've seen of Texas the past several weeks TCU would be at least a TD favorite over them and would Alabama a much better game than Texas will.
And I can't imagine how McCoy is going to be a productive NFL QB. He looked clueless all night long.

They have to find at least a minimally functional offense somewhere. Suh will be gone as will several other NU starters, so I expect the defense to be a bit less dominant next year, meaning the offense needs to step up. Looking forward, I have no idea where the yards and TDs are going to come from. Henry will be kicking a lot of FG's again....
Yep MB, I have little love for Texas. I know too many fans who are blindly arrogant and won't root for OU when they represent the conference in a bowl game. Talk of "Texas haters" - I experience "OU haters" up here as if having to deal with those idiot morons from Stillwater isn't bad enough. Why the hell should I take a knee with hat in hand for those pompous asses from Austin. They're too busy looking down their noses at everybody 24x7x365 (or 366). I hope Alabama humiliates them.

Meanwhile, Air Force is returning almost the entire starting lineup next year. They lost by only THREE to TCU, lost in OT to Utah and Navy. Had Minnesota on the ropes until they shot themselves in the foot with turnovers in the 4th qtr, and only played poorly at BYU. 2010: Texas
at Rice (1-11) man, what a frigin'r rivalry that one is, UCLA (losing record), Wyoming (mediocre MWC) and that juggernaut, Florida's Titanic (FAU).

Air Force (like Zoom says, an impressive team in 2010), Florida State (Jimbo Fishers high octane offense), at Cincinnati (at least 12-0 in 2009)and Utah State (weak but improving). They also play at Oklahoma State (always hard at Stillwater), Texas A&M (J. Johnson can only get more impressive), Baylor (will have Griffin back) and Missouri (will challenge Huskers for north title).

For crying out loud EV, look at that offense. If it had a defense to go with it, they'd have won the ACC. Next year awaits and I'll be proven right. The Seminoles are on the way back up with Fisher at the helm. Getting rid of the "retirement home" defensive coaches is going to pay off big time for FSU.

the Big 12 agreed to keep that very practice in place. And I wouldn't crow too much about how Texas got screwed - they beat Ohio State (minus its leading rusher) with about 2 minutes left in the game. Hardly dominant against what most consider the "lame Big Ten" opponent - and not even the conference champion.
So Mac got his wish - a gratuitous second opportunity. Stop bitching about last year. You're cows beat Oklahoma's "B" team, 16-13, and looked like shit in doing it. Count your blessings - especially the one you guys got last night.

that voters were putting TCU ahead of Texas and that the Frogs could jump the Horns to get into the title game - well I guess that was all in someone's imagination - TCU didn't even finish 3rd in the BCS rankings - Cincinnati did. So I guess there was no basis to the thread from the beginning. I will say I would have loved to see TCU play Cincinnati or Florida as opposed to Boise - what will we really get out of that game. But to say its a FACT that TCU is clearly the best team in the country - that really doesn't hold water to me. From SI.com's Stewart Mandel:
The Horned Frogs, which finished fourth in the final standings (a notable accomplishment considering no previous non-BCS team had finished higher than sixth), seem to be the popular choice. They certainly pass the eyeball test. TCU was incredibly dominant down the stretch, winning its last seven games by an average 31.1-point margin.
But the Horned Frogs played just six teams that finished .500 or better (8-5 Clemson, 7-5 SMU, 7-5 Air Force, 10-2 BYU, 9-3 Utah and 6-6 Wyoming). By comparison, Alabama and Texas both played nine. That's why they're facing 13-0 Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl rather than 13-0 Alabama in Pasadena.

The tiebreaker was the BCS formula. That said, your reason for maintaining the status quo seems to have changed again. Thats true. No one can prove TCU is NOT better than Texas. I for one believe TCU has a more well rounded offense, and a defense that is equal to Texas. TCU is better than Texas. I don't have to prove anything any more than any voter in a poll does. They just ARE and that's all that matters to me. I don't give a damn what you or anyone else thinks. The ONLY thing that matters is what I think.
So if you think that the voters are idiots, and you are doing the exact same thing as them, then are you an idiot too?

That's why they're facing 13-0 Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl rather than 13-0 Alabama in Pasadena.
..but , as B90 points out, TCU didn't pass the pre-season free 'seeding' test...the test that decides all this stuff.

Why do you guys even argue with these clowns? They are self-absorbed attention seekers. They are close minded and could care less about what anyone else has to say.
 I'm shocked!

Proving my point. TCU is better than Texas because I said so. And that is all that matters to me.
