Remember, this is a 13 year old grudge Nebraska is trying pay back here.
For the youngsters here, in 1996, Nebraska, the two time defending national champions, the year after absolutely ripping Florida to shreds in the Fiesta bowl, lost their opener to Arizona St, 19-0, but then reeled off 10 straight wins and climbed back to #2 before the first ever Big 12 title game. Win that game and go on to play Florida St in Sugar for the MNC.
Funny thing, had NU won that game and won the MNC that year they would have won four straight MNCs.

That's debatable. Nebraska was 3rd headed into the Big 12 Championship behind Florida State and Arizona State, and Florida was 4th and beat 11th ranked Alabama by more than 2 TDs. Nebraska eeking by an unranked Texas would've made that very close.
And even then, giving 1 loss Nebraska the championship ahead of 1 loss Arizona State would've been silly(although I'm sure they would have)

This game is going pretty much the way Bo Pelini wants it to. 7-6 at the half. Looks like a Steelers-Ravens game
Yep ZOOM ... top that Florida. Oh, I forgot, you can't. Hey, its only 7-6 at the half and Texas has yet to figure out how to run the Huskers into the ground. If not for a pass interference it would probably be 6-3 Huskers right now. So, if Texas wins this, say, 17-13, do you think they will be moved into the #2 spot? Unfortunately for TCU I think they will since Nebraska is north division champs and Big 12 etc. Its too bad TCU didn't have that 55-28 blowout over Utah just last week or even today.

Hate to rain on Bevo's parade, but McCoy is clueless. this is the kind of defense this kid will see EVERY WEEK in the NFL and he doesn't have a clue....
I'm starting to get pissed off. They keep running and trying to decide where to go while teh line collapses. For Christ's Sake. Get the damn ball, lower your shoulders and "man up" (as has been said lately). Run over that cow worshipper. Follow right behind Suh and keep hitting and hitting. You will eventually clock one of those Longhorns. So, its 10-9. What a friggin' golden opportunity with nothing but shit as a result. A major brain fart. Texas hsa the ball ... at their own "1" yard line. Sack this twerp.

Nebraska has a lot of smart football players. Texas is going to hit the middle with Shipley and the flanks with Kirkendahl. Make McCoy anxious. Suh - do your magic !!!

They cetainly do. Those arrogant pricks. I am going to relish Alabama's butchering of that highly predictable McCoy-Shipley love affair. No Heisman for Poney Boy. Ingrahm at Alabama or the guy from Clemson - I'm so frazzled I can't think of his name - will win the trophy. Thy're talking to McCoy like he is some kind of field general. He was EXPOSED. Alabama will administer a rectal exam/roto-rootering on his overrated ass.

McCoy's draft status just plummeted. Can't believe anyone gives this kid a Heisman. Spiller is the best player in the country. This is the caliber of defense he will see every week in the NFL and he can't handle it. If Nebraska had any semblance of an offense, they'd be a top 5 team themselves.

What a pathetic system! Texas saves the BCS from a freaking coin flip deciding whether or not Cincinnati or TCU gets a shot at the national title for the smallest of differences.

0:01 after a lousy kickoff and horsecollar. Texas ws exposed. For the record, who do you think would have made it through - TCU or Cincinnati? I am beside myself with that screwed up kickoff.
Zoom, I was amazed that Nebraska did as well as they did. I figured a solid first half and then teh Horn offense would get the passing game going and open it up for McCoy runs - like the A&M game. Texas isn' taht good because the Big 12 just isn't that good. Heck, even OU's hodge-podge team exposed them in Dallas. They had Texas carpping their pants and McCoy on his ass all day. Glad they mentioned that as Nebraska fed on these posers. I just hope to God that Alabama breaks that losing streak vs. Texas in bowl games and just buries them with an embarrassing crushing defeat. The Tide and DC Steele is going to have Texas already sliced/diced before kickoff. I hope it is a blowout.

I think Cincinnati would have a small edge in the computers, but I think the pollsters might have stayed with TCU and the polls have more weight. Of course, just imagine if the difference came down to SOS bump the Bearcats get from Fresno State’s miracle two-point conversion.
That said, I simply do not get anti-playoff people. The differences between the five unbeatens are acceptable for deciding the one through five seeds but not for deciding whether your bowl game is for the national title or whether its stakes are no greater than the New Orleans Bowl.

Computers aren't that kind to Texas, either. Reporters are reporting more and more Harris voter are defecting to TCU from Texas. Coaches will protect Brown, though. Computer may have Cincy #2, Harris TCU #2, but the Coaches will have Texas #2......BCS simply SUCKS.
And oh "Great One" what were your predictions tonight? A lot like mine and we know what they implies huh? So Texas is going to pummel Alabama because 28 years ago they won the Cotton Bowl vs. the Tide, 14-12. You're the one who pointed out Texas is 8-0 vs. Alabama. And yes Hen - it is a knee jerk reaction. But with a month to prepare Alabama will be in Texas' huddle come January 5.

Wow... such hatred for my Longhorns... I don't remember a time when EVERYONE in the whole damn world was pulling so hard against us....
After reading all these posts this morning... I thought maybe I dreamed last night, and we lost?
We did win the game... and, you know what? The last two Texas possesions, Colt McCoy stood cool in the pocket (even though he'd been sacked all night) and put the ball ON his receivers in time, in place. That's what a good player does..
Nebraska's first, and last interceptions were fluky plays that were clearly not Colt's fault.
I thought.. Texas coaches failed to properly game plan from the dominance of Suh. I guess, maybe they thought our All-American Senior center could handle him... he's handled everyone else all year.. but, damn.. Suh is a special player. Two people couldn't stop him. We should have been rolling away from him, and runing in DIFFERENT directions...
Against A&M, our OFFENSE dominated the game... and, we won.
Against Nebraska, our DEFENSE dominated the game... and, we won.
Texas has a solid, well balance team... loaded with athletes and experienced players. We'll give that Tide a roll.

McCoy made the plays down the stretch to win. Not only on the final drive, but a few drives before when they were pinned back inside their own 10 yard line. Those 3rd down passes to keep the chains moving were critical. Very impressive in the clutch. Texas is well deserving of a trip to Pasadena. But...so is TCU...it's a shame we'll never know what would have happened in a playoff.

I hate to throw facts into you anti-Texas rants, but:
Texas beat its opponents by an average score of 40.7 to 15.1. Cincinnati beat its opponents by an average score of 39.8 - 20.8
Cinci struggled to beat a good Pitt team on a last minute drive. Texas struggled to beat a good Nebraska team on a last minute drive.
Explain why Cinci is so much better than Texas?
