Why isn't this issue being addressed more by Obama? Illegal aliens have flooded our public services and health care. Thats a large chunk of the problem. The emergency room, which by law can't refuse service, is constantly flooded with hispanics who have a runny nose or sore throat. NOT emergency situations, but can't be turned away. Hospitals forced to treat them. Bill goes unpaid = Doctor doesn't get pay. Doctor then sees insured patients (aka YOU and ME) and remembers A) He isn't getting paid from illegals and B) Tort reform won't happen, so he better treat you for EVERYTHING so he won't get sued. Thus, YOUR massive bill, which your insurance pays. Insurance then raises premiums so they can stay in business with their 2% profit margin.

Obama: If you are listening. Federal law = Illegal aliens cannot recieve non-emergency health care from our ER's and tort reform immediately. Of the "47 million" uninsured, about 1/3 of that is illegals. There is 1/3 of the crisis fixed immediately. You go down as one of the greatest presidents. "Obama reduces uninsured number by 33%". Wow. Great headline.

One of the big reasons I am such a supporter of the Fair Tax is situations like this....at least if we have the Fair Tax we can recoup some of the money that the illegals (and black-market benefactors) spend when they are here. Because the US is such a great place to have opportunity, it is difficult to keep people out (they go to such outrageous lengths to get in here). I would guess that most Americans can have some sympathy toward the illegals trying to find a better situation (not the ones here to harm us) and the outrage is more centered on the drag they have on our economy.

Yeah, I can sympathize with them. Same with people of all shitty countries that have no hope in life. At least Mexicans have hope of making it here one day. That said, we can't let that drag our way of life into the pits either. You know, the border is almost the ultimate example of bleeding heart liberalism vs. cold, rational and calculated conservatism. It would be great to seal our border completely and end the problem, and allow a few lucky ones to come in legally each year. But it would also be hard to know how many people we kept from a better life by doing so. Then, the question is, are we obligated to allow that person to come here illegally to get that better life?

IMO, that is why the drug war is so imporant, and why we should fight it as hard as the terror war. If we could eliminate the power the drug cartels have in Mexico, there is a chance we could help establish a less corrupt government. If that were done, then the process of brining more economic opportunity to that country could begin.

..obviously...but fear not- congress will get nothing done in the coming months and costs will continue to skyrocket...there are multiple facets to blame....using "model" systems like the VA or single payer in the canadian mode is absurd as justification for wholesale change..the voracious genie wearing a stethescope so to speak is out of the bottle and will not be returning to it....

Whatever it may be, I'm sick of people whining about "evil doctors trying to pad their wallets". Well, yes. They DESERVE to be rich. I want a doctor who is greedy as sh**. Who wants to be the best, and get paid like it. If doctor's don't have massive monetary incentives, why go through 10 years of school and keep up with more education to be the best??? You can't just hire doctors like you would hire a fireman or teacher. Yes, those jobs are important also, but you can get good ones without the massive paydays. Doctors? No. You need people who are willing to go through all that.

Now, they want their well earned money. And illegals don't pay. So, they are gonna get it from insurance companies that do. And insurance companies will raise rates to make up for it. Easy answer. Ban illegals from ALL non-emergency care unless they are paying cash up front.
