While it goes against everything Holy in my beloved South, I'm declaring the MWC and WAC my new favorite CFB conferences, yes, over those in the South, because of the deal on the main page of this site showing they will match each other's champions. That is the closest thing we probably will ever have to a playoff.
What guts and balls by those two conferences. They are already giant slayers, and BCS teams tremble at the thought of actually playing them. What if TCU and Boise were matched up this year? And one risked being knocked out of the major BCS money? For what? For competition. For.....just for plain pride of going up against the best.
Can you imagine?
MWC vs WAC
SEC vs Big 10
Pac 10 vs Big 12
Big East vs ACC
Round 1.
It's the first step. And likely the ONLY step towards a playoff scenario, and the MWC and WAC have taken it. Kudos to these two fine up and coming conferences. IMO the MWC is as tough as the ACC and Big East this year, and the top 3 in the MWC could compete for the title in ANY conference. These guys are showing the other BCS blowhards what true competition is all about.
Now.....if only my idea of a major corporation sponsoring a 4 team post season tournament could come true. The Nike National Championship. They do them in basketball, so it must be legal I'm sure. This year, maybe we'd have undefeated Cincy, TCU, Boise and 1 loss SEC team in it????
