I was in San Diego yesterday watching TCU, and that is a damn fine team. Probably the only team in the country that is a truly complete team.

Too bad they have no shot.

We've thought so before. This is college football, and we constantly see stunning happenings.

It's the second year in a row, perhaps the best team, a team from the MWC, is not allowed to even compete.

Correction, the National Championship game is already decided.

It will be Florida vs Alabama in Atlanta.

Rivalry games are always grounds for surprises. Alabama-Auburn, Texas-Texas A&M. We've seen teams that seem to have a lock on #1 lose in the late Nov rivalry game. If Alabama and Florida are still undefeated going into the SEC title game, then true, half the BCS title game will be decided there. Remember 2001, all the favorites lost on the last day, and propelled a Nebraska team who lost their last game 62-38, to the BCS title game.

The SEC Championship is the National Championship. Both teams have already secured their spot.

The 'exhibition' bowl games will decide the beauty contest winner.

Here is my take on how things play out:

Top Ten BCS Standings leading into the bowl season:

Alabama (13-0)
Texas (13-0)
Florida (12-1)
TCU (12-0)
Boise State (12-0)
Georgia Tech (12-1)
Louisiana State (10-2)
Cincinnati (11-1)
Ohio State (10-2)
Southern California (10-2)

Rose Bowl: Oregon (9-3) vs. Ohio State (10-2)
Fiesta Bowl: TCU (12-0) vs. Southern California (10-2)
Sugar Bowl: Miami (10-2) vs. Florida (12-1)
Orange Bowl: Georgia Tech (12-1) vs. Cincinnati (11-1)
National Championship: Texas (13-0) vs. Alabama (13-0)

Alabama will beat Florida for the SEC championship; Texas will beat Nebraska for the Big 12 championship; Georgia Tech will beat Clemson for the ACC championship; Ohio State will beat Iowa for the Big Ten championship; TCU will run their table; Boise State will run their table. Southern Cal will win their remaining games with a scoring fest win over Stanford and a defensive battle vs. Arizona. Oregon, even with two conference losses, trumps USC who they defeated decisively with identical 7-2 Pac Ten records.

In the Big East we still have the round robin eliminations. West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati are all vying for the Big East crown and a trip to either the Sugar or Orange Bowls. Each of those teams will lose one of their remaining games. I think Cincinnati will beat Pittsburgh in the finale to secure the championship. Miami will trump both Iowa and Penn State for the remaining BCS slot as the potential Big Ten entrants will have lost key games late and therefore be less appealing.

So 9-3 Oregon gets into the Rose Bowl, but undefeated Boise State gets shafted? Wow, what a system

Or it could be like 2005, where the 2 best teams were on a collision course

If Texas stumbles, Cinci would be next in line. If Cinci also drops a game, I really really think that you would see TCU in that game, assuming they beat Utah and win out. And then Hen will owe me $1,000! :)

Perhaps if Boise State could have beaten UC-Davis, Tulsa and Louisiana Tech by more than a combined 35 points, you're argument about an undefeated BSU would have had more merit to those making these decisions?

Are you kidding? Really?

Texas is very well balanced this year between offense, defense and Special Teams... Each part has won games for us this year.

THAT, is actually our biggest strength... the fact that, we are very good at ALL phases of the game.

You said that last year, aufan, but as it turned out one of your 'true' NC participants couldn't stay on the field with UTAH. Do you remember anything about that ?

I think Hen is a bigger Texas fan than me now! :D

But, his interest is purely financial... mine is heart and soul.

Actaully all that needs happen is either Texas to get upset or Alabama/Florida get upset in the regular season then beat the other in the SEC CG. In either case TCU gets in....and Boise gets a bid to a consolation BCS bowl, too.

Beware Bevo, If Texas wins the PNC (pretend national championship) I might start investigating the program's dumbth factor. ( and leave GG's Gators alone for awhile 0 ;-)

In that scenario, they would probably also need Cinci to lose. Cinci is already ahead of TCU in the computers and could pass them in the human polls with wins over Pitt and WVU to close out the season. Plus, they are a "BCS team" which seems to carry more weight with the voters, all else being equal.

Your Tigers were robbed in Tusky Saturday....

Police reports say the suspect was wearing white pants and a black and white striped shirt...

Viva la conspiracy!

YEa, that's the best one I've seen, yet. Both nonAQ teams in. Ohio St - Oregon would be "different". Has Ohio St ever played Oregon? Has Cincy and Florida ever played?

heh, GT's offense vs TCU's defense. Now *that* would be interesting.
