NCAA rules that Oklahoma showed lack of institutional controls when Bomar and Quinn recieved $7400.00 and $8100.00 respectively from Big Red Toyota for not working. Thse Sooners lose 2 schollies in 08 and 09 and forfit games won in 2005--what ever that means. They are T.V. and bowl eligble with no sanctions or limitations. T.V. and bowl sanctions are the only punishment that gets results as it costs teams money, hence a hand slap!

So then you must think that USC is getting away with highway robbery given the Reggie Bush scandal!

You cant REALLY be serious!? These violations were not discovered by the NCAA. The OU compliance staff discovered them, investigated them, and OU VOLUNTARILY imposed scholarship penalties, limited recruiting trips, and DISMISSED the athletes from the team and only THEN told the NCAA what had happened. The ruling by the NCAA only encourages other institutions to engage in coverups (USC?) when they discover violations instead of taking action and doing the right thing. Oklahoma should be commended for thier actions. I think they have a very good shot at winning the appeal. The NCAA is notorious for favoritism, corruption, and just plain poor judgment. I believe they exhibited all three in this instance.

PS. For the record, USC is a tower of violations. You might want to wait until the steroid, pay for play, illegal booster payments, improper benefit investigation there is over before you speak too loudly.

said about Oakland, "there is no there there" What Reggies Step dad did or didn't do were of course out of USC's knowledge/ control. Parents can't be monitored without help from the FBI/CIA/NSA, etc. Now big Red Toyota is a peice of work! As news of the snooping by the Oklahoma compliance dept started to surface, the dealership is sold and all records destroyed the new owners.
