Which OOC matchup makes more sense strategically for a national title contender?

Trick question? FIU, of course. You've got to be undefeated to get there.

If, however, FIU is considered one of 4 non-conference opponents from among schools like, Florida International; Kent State; Buffalo and Utah State, then you would be better of taking your chances against Florida, because the national media would rip you to shreds and possible rank all the other undefeated schools ahead due to playing a pitiful non-conference slate. That's what happed to Auburn a few years ago when Oklahoma and USC were ranked in front of Auburn at the end of the season.

No trick. Just curious what others believe.

If you can beat Florida, then take Florida. Losing to Florida is worse than killing FIU, though.

Did you get my email response, Jim? I read my email very infrequently and so it might take a while for me to respond.

If the rest of my schedule has enough good teams on it, I want FIU. If my entire schedule is against teams like FIU already, and my goal is to play for a National Championship, I want Florida...a chance to prove that I can play with anyone.
