Up by 5, VPI needs a field goal. They have them backed up inside their own 20 with no timeouts and 1:40 left and what do they do? Let the receiver get behind everyone! Then they get a big sack on the next play making it 2nd and goal on the 11. Then let the QB dance around for 10 sec or more until a receiver finally comes through.
NU had this game won, completely dominated the 2nd half. But even my wife stated that they were kicking too many field goals in the first half. That always comes back to bite teams in close game. You almost never win game kicking only field goals.

just growing pains
Pelini has them on the right path
Zoom, I found myself watching a lot of that game. I was impressed with Nebraska's ability to move the ball but they always stalled. Yep, lokked like teh Husker defenders were waiting for him to do something before they went after him. Communal brain fart. My jaw dropped when they just stood there. Geez! A win over VPI would have been really sweet for the Big 12.

Good news it seems they'll have 3 free wins a year in the B12 North. Bad news is, Pinkle seems to be a good "reloader".

Nebraska used to win almost all of these types of games. They have to learn to play for 60 minutes and not 58:30. And you can't kick just field goals in college football and win. The Offense couldn't finish anything either.
