1.) Texas - Loaded with great weapons at every single position you need to have them at. The Big 12 should be much improved but talent wise they are head and shoulders above the rest of the conference.

2.) USC - Always in the top 5 it seems. Booty has the goods and the weapons at his disposal. They need more consistency at the RB position but should settle on 2 of the 4 great backs they have to carry the load. Defense is wicked good.

3.) Florida State - This is my sleeper pick! X. Lee has to play more consistently for them to live up to this hype. ACC doesnt look especially deep and Jimbo Fisher will revive a limping offense to go with one of the nations best defense. Talk about going out on a limb!!!

4.) LSU - Defense will be the key this season. Flynn is the biggest question mark especially after losing Jimbo Fisher this past off season. Couple that with losing your 2 best recievers and LSU has their hands full. Look for the bengal tigers to unleash their talented tailbacks in many different sets this season.

5.) West Virginia - Steve Slatan gets forgot alot by the writers and pundents but it is obvious that when he is on the football field he is the focus of attention. Defense is a big question mark with this team as is the passing game. With the right breaks WV could find themselves in the NC game.

6.) Ohio State - After an embarrasing showing in the NC game this past season OSU will go back to the basics this season. Power running game with timely passing and a hard nosed defense that exceeded my expectations a year ago. That defense is a year older and hungry to show their stuff.

7.) Michigan - Henne and Hart led a Wolverine backfield with Manningham their to stretch the field and open up the offense. This could be the nations best offense. Can Coach Carr get it done? If he could this team would be ranked higher.

8.) Florida - Well for those of you Florida fans who wanted Chris Leak gone you got your wish. Tim Tebow has all the tools to be a great player in the SEC. Meyer got him a good amount of PT in big games last season. The Gators have a load of talent and the best special teams player in america in Percy Harvin.

9.) Virginia Tech - Beamer ball is back and angry. VT will ride an emotion of talent this season. Defense, Special Teams, and the occasional offensive score will be the formula for the Hokies this season.

10.) Auburn - I know its a hommer pick but Auburn has alot to work with on defense. Unlike PS I believe Auburn's OL will actually be better in their pass blocking duties. RB is loaded as usual and Brandon Cox is a 6th year QB. Kicking game is a huge question mark. That could be the differnce between 9-3 and 7-5.

11.) Tennessee - Erik Ainge is in his senior year. UT needs to contine to find its running game and keep up the pressure on defense. Schedule isnt exactly easy but what else are Senior QBs for. They usually win tough road games, if they are good that is.

12.) Oklahoma - Another tough nosed defense in my top 13. Replacing Petterson will take oh about 1 quarter. Allen looks to be a good back and coach Stoops always makes the right call at the end of games. No more Statue of Liberty plays to worry about this season.

13.) UCLA - Unlucky 13? Nah! UCLA has a solid defense and alot of starters returning. With good coaching and game management The Bruins may be looking at a BCS game if they beat heavily touted USC and Oregon.

Thats it. Like it or not.

Texas? They have an injury prone sophmore at QB. They may be a top 10 team this year but I doubt the win it all with McCoy.

USC? They have a 5th year QB and stoutest defense of the Carroll era, but with the schedule they will need luck to make it to the big dance.

Fla St? Nah, fisher would have to walk on water to get Championship quarterbacking out of Lee or weatherford.

LSU? After the Beat down of Miami in the 2006 (?)bowl I thought that flynn should have won the starter Job over Russell. I rate LSU right With USC and Mich as having the best shots.

Weat Virginia? I think the College football world catchs up with Rodriquez this year

Ohio St? Who plays QB? I think they are #3 in the big ten, Behind Wisky nad Mich.

Michigan? Agree with you, they have the players to do it but you have to question Carr!

Florida? They finish 2nd or 3rd in the SEC east this year. The big question is can Tebow pass?

VaTech? We find out about the Hokies when they play LSU, don't expect much.

Auburn? They have a 6th year QB and decent talent but they play all there tough games on the road. They finish #3 in the SEC west.

Tennessee? Sr QB and talent everywhere they come out firing and beat up Cal again on the way to the SEC east title and a good shot at the SEC crown.

Oklahoma? Who plays QB, a freshman. they finish 2nd or 3rd in the B12 south.

UCLA? Suffering from the "they beat USC " syndrome. They are #4 in the PX.

My Take! thats why they play the games

Auburn has more than decent talent bro. You are just spoiled out west with the enourmous talent USC has. In fact this Auburn team has as much talent, though young, as either the '05 or '06 team. Best "young" stable of RB's in the SEC you just havent heard of them yet Ben Tate, and Super Mario Fannin. 3rd in the west, HA! Thats what they thought in '05 following the undefeated season. Played those 4 teams on the road that season and went 3-1 with a victory over the eventual SEC champs UGA. I dont buy the 3rd in the west. Proably 2nd in the west but more than likely a tie with LSU for first. Arkansas has two good RBs but lost alot on defense and no QB to speak much of.

Colt McCoy is injury prone, but he improved over the course of last season. He will get even better.

USC should be #1, though they are relatively light at WR.

Weatherford sucks, I agree there. Lee has a lot of potential. Not sure I'd have them that high, but they will be improved.

LSU-Very strong

What do you mean the college football word catches us with Rich Rodriguez? White, Slaton, and incoming freshman Noel Devine- might be the biggest triple threat backfield in the country.

OSU-Agree that its back to basics. Defense, special teams, and power running game behind C.Wells, M.Wells and Brandon Saine. Biggest question is QB Boeckman, but Wisconsin also has a new QB.

Michigan-Best offense in big 10. Top 3 in country maybe. Defense lost some key guys though. and Carr usually plays conservatively.

Agree on UF. Can Tebow pass and run an offense?? key losses at Defense. It was Leak's passing and accuracy and the Defensive line that beat OSU down in the title game.

VPI will be a contender for the ACC, but I don't expect them to beat LSU. Game will be very telling on their season..

Jeff,
If Michigan has a Top 3 offense this year, I'd say it's a very down year for offenses around the country. They are way to predictable for me to rank them that high.
