.) Texas - Loaded with great weapons at every single position you need to have them at. The Big 12 should be much improved but talent wise they are head and shoulders above the rest of the conference.
.) USC - Always in the top 5 it seems. Booty has the goods and the weapons at his disposal. They need more consistency at the RB position but should settle on 2 of the 4 great backs they have to carry the load. Defense is wicked good.
.) Florida State - This is my sleeper pick! X. Lee has to play more consistently for them to live up to this hype. ACC doesnt look especially deep and Jimbo Fisher will revive a limping offense to go with one of the nations best defense. Talk about going out on a limb!!!
.) LSU - Defense will be the key this season. Flynn is the biggest question mark especially after losing Jimbo Fisher this past off season. Couple that with losing your 2 best recievers and LSU has their hands full. Look for the bengal tigers to unleash their talented tailbacks in many different sets this season.
.) West Virginia - Steve Slatan gets forgot alot by the writers and pundents but it is obvious that when he is on the football field he is the focus of attention. Defense is a big question mark with this team as is the passing game. With the right breaks WV could find themselves in the NC game.
.) Ohio State - After an embarrasing showing in the NC game this past season OSU will go back to the basics this season. Power running game with timely passing and a hard nosed defense that exceeded my expectations a year ago. That defense is a year older and hungry to show their stuff.
.) Michigan - Henne and Hart led a Wolverine backfield with Manningham their to stretch the field and open up the offense. This could be the nations best offense. Can Coach Carr get it done? If he could this team would be ranked higher.
.) Florida - Well for those of you Florida fans who wanted Chris Leak gone you got your wish. Tim Tebow has all the tools to be a great player in the SEC. Meyer got him a good amount of PT in big games last season. The Gators have a load of talent and the best special teams player in america in Percy Harvin.
.) Virginia Tech - Beamer ball is back and angry. VT will ride an emotion of talent this season. Defense, Special Teams, and the occasional offensive score will be the formula for the Hokies this season.
.) Auburn - I know its a hommer pick but Auburn has alot to work with on defense. Unlike PS I believe Auburn's OL will actually be better in their pass blocking duties. RB is loaded as usual and Brandon Cox is a 6th year QB. Kicking game is a huge question mark. That could be the differnce between 9-3 and 7-5.
.) Tennessee - Erik Ainge is in his senior year. UT needs to contine to find its running game and keep up the pressure on defense. Schedule isnt exactly easy but what else are Senior QBs for. They usually win tough road games, if they are good that is.
.) Oklahoma - Another tough nosed defense in my top 13. Replacing Petterson will take oh about 1 quarter. Allen looks to be a good back and coach Stoops always makes the right call at the end of games. No more Statue of Liberty plays to worry about this season.
.) UCLA - Unlucky 13? Nah! UCLA has a solid defense and alot of starters returning. With good coaching and game management The Bruins may be looking at a BCS game if they beat heavily touted USC and Oregon.
Thats it. Like it or not.
