Here's your chance to be Nostradamus and post wild and crazy predictions for the upcoming season

Here's a couple of mine:

*The Big XII will have the best year its had in quite awhile...there's alot of young teams looking through a chance to break through, such as Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Kansas State, Mizzou, Colorado, Iowa State, etc. The bottom of the conference is Baylor and thats it

*Ohio State will rebound and make a run at the Big 10 championship with Defense

*Someone from the Big East is will finally break through and make it to the National Championship...West Virginia, Louisville, and Rutgers all have the tools to break through and do it (although Rutgers might have a problem with SOS)

I got Aubie going 9-3. I know that we replace 4 OL but unlike the other school in the beautiful state of alabama Auburn has recruited OL very well the past 3 seasons so it doesnt worry me that much. At RB Aubie will be fine with the human pinball Brad Lester and Ben Tate sharing the load. Dont be suprised if Mario Fannin explodes onto the scene much like Darren McFadden did a few years ago for Arkansas. Fannin has more explosivness than any other tiger and also has good field vison...he's the "next" Auburn back. Defense is starting to get bigger and with that more physical. Muschamp has got Aubie running out of the 3-4 with Q. Groves standing up playing the OLB position. "I always thought we had LB's playing DE".

Well If you think Aubie is that good then why do you give them 3 losses hubbs? Good question. Its not the schedule! Auburn needs explosion at the WR position. They recruited well there the past 2 seasons now its time to see if those guys can produce. Look for Tim Hawthorne to return this fall and win a spot in the top 3 after his automobile accident this past spring. If Cox gets a recieving corps that produces by the time KSU and USF have visted, win or lose, the 6th year QB (4th year in Borges system) will be a contender for SEC QB of the year. Just my 2 cents worth

P.S. BCS NC Game

Texas vs whoever - Texas has the talent

ok, just for fun.

I would agree that the Big 12 should be much improved.

UCLA beating USC second year in a row!

Florida will lose 3 (or more) games this year. Tebow is a huge drop off from Chris Leak.

Wisconsin is getting the preseason hype, but it'll be OSU/Michigan for big 10 title (duh?)

ACC CG: FSU vs Va Tech (I'd love to pick my boys, too many questions though)
SEC CG: Tennessee vs LSU (big surprise......)
Big 10: Wisconsin
Big East: West Virginia, I don't think Louisville does as well this year, Rutgers too
Big 12: Oklahoma vs Kansas State (have to pick something odd here)
Pac 10: USC (until some team steps up to prove me wrong)
Conference USA: Southern Miss vs Tulsa
Mountain West: TCU (defense last year was ferocious!)
MAC: Ohio vs Northern Illinois
WAC: Boise State (just don't buy the Hawaii arguments)
Sun Belt: Who cares? Okay okay, Troy in a repeat.

let's see, what else? Louisville falls off quite a bit with a new coach. Duke wins three. Miami wins 7. Clemson falls off the map. Alabama wins 8.

with games remaining at Auburn, vs LSU and vs Tennessee. If they go 8-4 with the losses they suffered on defense Nick Saban is the bear. Everyone knows Saban will turn it around for bammer but the talent level isnt there on defense and UGA, ARK, and FSU have bullets on offense. 3 loses in September. Same could be said for Auburn too. Kansas State and USF could beat them.

VT ? I hope you are right, of course, but the Hokies have problem areas.

a) The O line is still in the experimental stages and semi-'green'. Heck, we have an ex tight end slated to start at tackle....and in the season's second game we have to try and block LSU's D line of future pros. Ouch !

b) The QB, Glennon , has more of a DII talent level.

c) Although we have a solid starting RB, there is hardly any quality depth at the position.

d) Our kicking game is brand new

on the up side...
We'll have a very speedy and experienced defense, although typically kinda dumb and undisciplined.
We'll have quality, speed, and depth at the WR positions.

All total, I kinda doubt if this teams contends for an ACC championship.....but I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than over confident.

How about everyone's prediction for the VT @ LSU game on Sept 8. ???

After reading some pre-season mags, it looks something like LSU 37, VT 6

I think LSU wins the game, but not by a score like that.

more like 24-14

I'll say Tennessee plays Michigan for the national title. Both teams would have the BCS edge over West Virginia/Louisville even with 1 early season loss.

UT might have trouble getting past Cal, but something's telling me they're going to knock off the Gators in Gainesville this year. Ainge is now in his fourth year and has a solid backfield behind him. I look for him to have a very successful senior campaign and challenge for the Heisman. Chavis lost some quality talent on D, but the newcomers are talented and should fit in well. The UT schedule looks rather promising after the trip to Bama, and any team that can finish the season on a solid winning streak can find themselves in the BCS Title Game the way things play out nowadays.

As for Michigan, they have a very manageable schedule with Penn St. and Ohio St. coming to Ann Arbor. The only possible slip up I see on the schedule is a November trip to Madison. The nucleus of their offense returns, and the Henne/Hart/Manningham/Arrington combo will cause havoc on opposing Big 10 defenses. Although their defense was exposed in the final two games of the year, I don't see anyone on the schedule (except for possibly Oregon with a spread attack) who has the sheer athletic arsenal (i.e. OSU, USC of '06) to move the ball that effectively on this team.

Also, I don't see USC running the table this year. Nebraska is a VERY likely upset opponent. ND, Cal, and Oregon won't be easy road trips for these guys either.

So, I'll stick with my guns and predict a Tennessee/Michigan battle in the BCS National Championship Game in New Orleans.

I think VT has fewer question marks than anyone else in the Coastal.
GT: Gotta replace a legend at WR, new QB, new OC. GT will be VT's biggest challenger though
Miami: I think they made the biggest mistake in their coaching situation. The D will be good, but I think the O will be even worse with Patrick Nix at OC. I just don't like him much. Sure, I'm biased, but I thought the way the O went into the tank at the end of last year at GT was all his fault, and the fact that he was the QB coach for REGGIE BALL for all four years.
Virginia: I believe they are a sinking ship. They may be better this year than last year, and may make a bowl game, but that's it.
UNC: Good coach, good luck. They won't be much this year.
Duke: yeah...they're gonna contend for the ACC title...sure... riiiiiight.

It may come down to whoever GT and VT play on the other side of the conference: both play Clemson with GT getting them at home, VT on the road. VT has FSU at home (cursed I know...), GT has Maryland on the road (which is never easy, though their QB situation stinks), both have BC on the schedule at home.

GT may get VT at home this year, but it is a Thursday Night Game...

I think Glennon is quality enough, at least adequate. Better experience than GT's Bennett. The kicking game shouldn't be a problem, and after last year replacing it may not be a bad thing. Ore has shown to be reliable enough at RB to not worry too much, similar to Choice at GT. Should be fun to watch both. The LSU game won't matter in the ACC race, though I do think VT has a chance to win there, and not a bad chance either!

If there is one thing about Les Miles he usually has his team play down to the level of his competition. LSU has to replace the leagues #1 draft choice. Also LSU has to replace their 2 best recievers, DT, and its QB on defense the SS LAndry. While I think LSU has a big talent edge that inexperience makes it fair game to me. I say LSU 22 - 15.

If Flynn wasn't a shot in the pants and is really the real deal then it could be worse. LSU has a very talented backfield and I have no clue how good VT front 14 is (you need depth to beat LSU). Thats how Auburn won last season. They were better 22 on 22 but Auburns backups in some cases were just as good as its starters.

Cant wait until September man. Does VT still have #11 at LB? That dude is scary good.

Blue Hen
06-28-2007, 06:41 PM
yep, that's Xavier Adibi. He's one of Frank's Apparel Resource Management majors....but he can fly. Vince Hall is probably our best LB. The whole 'D' is very speedy.
I'm mostly worried about LSU's overpowering D line dominating the game. I'm also worried about Tech looking past a dangerous ECU team which comes to Blacksburg the week before.

It all depends if LSU wears those horrid purple jerseys or not....they seem to play worse when they wear those

LSU only wears the purple against WEAK non-conference opponents. LSU will definately be wearing the white jerseys vs Virginia Tech.

Oklahoma State goes between the hedges and beats Georgia.

Oklahoma goes undefeated in the regular season despite the referees best efforts.

Nebraska loses by landslide to USC, but USC loses 3 games in conference.

Wisconsin busts this year.

Ohio State wins the Big Ten

Cal wins the Pac 10

LSU plays GA for the SEC with GA winning. BIG.

OU plays Nebraska for the big 12 and OU wins.

WVU wins the big east and a trip to the national title game vs Cal

Miami wins the ACC and FSU is the stepping stone.

LSU 27 - VaTech 17, this is more of a hunch than a prediction at this time of year but I think LSU is loaded and VT might be a sleeper though. Funny things happen on any given weekend of football. Nice OOC game to watch though, so hats off to those who had scheduled the game.

TommyTrojan,
I can see 4 of the 5 happening. The one I just don't see is Wake Forest beating Nebraska. Last year was one of those magical seasons for Wake Forest. I believe that Wake Forest will have a losing season in 2007 and that Nebraska will crush the Demon Deacons.

Agree. Wake is primed for a losing season, IMO. Wake made hay with its D last year, and their D has a number of key departures, especially at DB (22 INTs last year).

I think they easily go 1-3 in September and never dig out.

They could be 2-7 or 3-6 when they head to Clemson.
