But they let USC brush their dirty laundry under the carpet...go figure.

The NCAA is just fishing for money. The NCAA is more corrupt than any school they claim to "monitor" or "oversee". All they want is to raise a little flag for the OU alums and try and get the same amount of cash from them that they get out of the USC coffers. USC has paid millions in "sweep it under the rug" and "look the other way" fees to the NCAA. Rightfully so, USC is the most corrupt and dirty program in CFB and they commit enormous and serious infractions an an almost daily basis, if they want to stay off probation, they have to keep paying the NCAA under the table.
OU is not dirty like USC, but they have a reputation and alums with deep pockets and the NCAA is just trying to extort money from them. Simple as that. OU wont pay. They will likely get some form of probation or punishment from this. Meanwhile USC will continue to hold recruiting luncheons in the restaurants of former players, hold conference calls with former players and the NCAA rules commitee to assure them there will NEVER be any repurcussions for breaking the rules so long as they commit to USC, hand out goody bags consisting of steroids, masking agents, free housing vouchers, cash, and call girls services. It sucks, but its the way the world works now.

KOCurt, I think you went a "tad" overboard on USC. That said, I will say that it is amusing that the program that seemed more proactive in dealing with its situation (OU) is the one in the NCAA's bullseye. Meanwhile....we're still in limbo regarding Reggie Bush--A situation that took place before the Bomar situation; and a situation that didn't feature a forthright USC (of course USC probably didn't know at that point, but my point is that OU was forthright. Now look where that's got 'em).
BTW, is the NCAA even looking into the RB situation? I've lost track.
I'm just wondering how the NCAA has Stoops at Nurenburg, meanwhile Pete is sailing along with another obscene recruiting class/no worries. Maybe I should give them (NCAA) the bennie of the doubt and say that the Bush case takes time. But...I sure don't recall the NCAA being this mum about us during the Clarett fiasco. Definitely not this quiet after approx 10 months into it.

haha. you must've forgotten the ou qb being escorted by the police for selling coke on the cover of s.i. or the boz buying a corvette for a buck from one of those deep pocket alums. funny that 20 years later those same deep pocket ou alums are still involved in cars and money for ou football players.

Moron. I guess that means that SMU is still dirty?! Thompson happened 20 years ago, Reggie Bush happened only months ago and USC is violating recruiting rules DAILY as we speak. USC pays for immunity and Notre Dame has had it granted to them for life. Beyond that, everyone is fair game.
BTW, the only way OU of today resembles OU of 20 years ago is the level of talent and the yearly expectation of a national title. Quick! Name the most serious recruiting violation from the Switzer era. Cant? Ill give it to you. Assistant coach gives a recruit a ride to the bus station in the rain. Thats it. That was the MOST serious violation the NCAA got OU for.
So far THIS season USC has admitted to "mistakenly" using a former players restaurant as a meeting place and allowing that former player to talk to 3 potential recruits. They have had a conference call between Carroll and Bush and a recruit to assure him that there will be no probation or consequence from the NCAA. 2 players have "quit" the team after testing positive for steroids. 2 players recieved free housing and improper benefits, but they "paid it back" so its ok.
Gimme a break. USC is making the NCAA look foolish AND corrupt.
Yep its me (without the last name attached). I think it will help OU that they will not reactrivate the scholarships they originally had with Bomar and Quinn. I think much of the action will be aimed at the OU basketball program. Ever wonder why Kelvin jumped off the schooner as quickly as he did?
And as to USC and probation. It will not happen. They are "sacred" in southern Californication (or UNM as in the University of Northern Mexico). Ohio State managed to hang on to Troy Smith for actions quite similar to Rhett Bomar's. And Troy won the Heisman! Sorry Buckeye fans but it is worthy of a slight mention.
Moron. I guess that means that SMU is still dirty?!
bad comparison. i don't think smu had to kick off their starting qb before the start of the 2006 season because he was collecting large checks from a car dealership without working. 2006 doesn't seem like that long ago. but how could it when you're complaining over phone calls vs. being given money without earning it. no need to worry, ou didn't lose out in anything. mcknight was going to choose the big lights over l.a. instead of the cow pastures of norman. there's a reason ou and schools of its ilk have to cheat. nobody in their right mind outside of 100 miles would end up there for 4+ years without incentives.
SMU was already on probation when they got the "Death Penalty". And OU has made an effort to address the problems. Unless you want a "Nanny" state then I think it hard to hold the coaching staff accountable for what 100+ individuals to when not on campus or engaging in athletic activities. I think Big Red Sports and Imports needs to be removed from associating with OU's athletic department. Further, what an individual does in kahoots with an unsavory "employer" behind closed doors so to speak is hardly something the school can be held accountable for as being complicit. You might disagree with me and probably do but common sense needs to be part of the equation.

How so? I think your IQ is dropping in each post, or perhaps you simply revealed that you know not of what you speak. Either way, you should heed the advice of Mark Twain. "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than open you mouth and remove all doubt".
You made a foolish point and moronic comparison that held no logic. I simply pointed that out to you and you wax nostalgic about your cow pasture birth place? Try again, answer one of the questions or speak to the points made.

kokurt was making the assumption that smu should still be considered dirty because they were dirty 20 years ago. it is common knowledge smu has made an effort to clean up their act probably to the detriment of their program. ou on the other hand was getting in trouble 20 years ago and their football and basketball program were getting in trouble as recently as last year. if you can't see that you guys are the homer morons.

i agree. but birds of the same feather flock together. being a rouge program is just in the culture of ou football. maybe y'all should pick it up a notch or two on the cheating. i mean you guys have lost the last two years to mid-majors by tcu in norman and got embarrassed in the fiesta bowl by boise state team. seems like you guys need to turn the other way when big red imports are doing their thing. that way you can subject us college football fans to another national championship game embarrassment.

... HI probably stands for "HI"gh school. Either is a sophomore in the AV department or spends too much time sniffin' jocks or snorting crack. Either way it is nice to know you're on this board dude. OU needs all the fans it can muster in this cyberworld.
