View Full Version : Life's tough for the #1 draft pick
Stafford's adjusting all right to life after college. Anybody have any career path regrets? I saw this on a blog with the caption: "This time, he paid somebody to lift the keg."

Word is Stafford is way ahead of Culpepper, and will most likely start week one.
But I thought he was married - seem to recall him with a young lady at the draft, maybe it was a girlfriend or sister. The blonde young lady on his right shoulder looks quite cozy...and like someone you might want to cozy up to!
He's still single. And if I were in his shoes, I'd stay single for a while.

I read a pretty good piece on Lions practice yesterday. I'll try to remember where. There were some good lines from Calvin Johnson. On one pass, Stafford thought he placed it well, but it got knocked down by a defender. Calvin said that Stafford would learn that, at this level (and, I would add, with a receiver like Johnson), he can throw the ball much higher than he's used to, and it will be caught.
I have no idea what the rest of the Lions' roster looks like -- well, actually, I've heard a few things -- but Stafford-to-Johnson sounds like a dream combination to me. If and when Stafford gets to start, they still might not win a lot of games, but that pair is highlights waiting to happen.
And the old UGA vs. GT makes a cute back story.

Kevin Smith from UCF ran for over 1,000 yards as a rookie last year too. The Lions have a nice young nucleous to build around (Add in TE from Oklahoma State, Pettigrew in 1st rnd). I could see a 6-10 type season from them this year.

heh, he just has to be slightly more accurate than Reggie Ball. That shouldn't be *too* difficult.
I think this may be the first time Calvin ever had an "above-average" QB throwing him the ball. It will be interesting to see how it goes. Hope the Lions OL holds up a bit for him.
