...not the apocalype- but just another sign bushco's criminal greed giving the corperations carte blanche to do anything they want was in place for 8 years..want proof???... think about this: before bush got into power, EVERY FOOD MANUFACTURING PLANT IN AMERICA WAS INSPECTED YEARLY BY FDA...by 2007, this had dropped ot only 20%...thats right!...only 1/5 food production facilites was inspected undelr bush on 2007...20%..well, you had to trust the rest ..like that ga. peanut company you see.,..and i'll say it again and agian becuase its incontrovertibly true..bush put the needs of the rich and coporations ahead of EVERYTHING ELSE for 8 years...now, anyone want a nice peanut butter cracker for a snack at work today????

Not sure where you're getting such information...

I went to the FDA's website and poked around... The way they account for things has changed a little... but, here are a couple of facts:

The FDA budget in 2001 was $1.1 Billion.... in 2008, it was $2.1 Billion... No cut there.

In 2001, the total number of field inspections was 15,910... in 2007 the number was 19,855. No cuts there...

And, the # of inspections done by USDA also increased..

Here's the site, you can dig around and find your own #'s.... but, as usual... all this talk of "Bush cutting everything"... is simply: BUNK.

..i am not challenging you persoanaly..but you belive ANYTHING bushco said about what they did???..the fda was handcuffed and emascualted by bush...this was the gist of it..bush's fake budgets didnt even include iraq war expense..but back to issue: in terms of actual systematic inspection, fda radically cut their field efforts...i have direct knwoledge of thisa from the chief scientist at dea who interacts with high level fda officials.....they were told not to go out as in past..and msot importantly not to fine, or at most mildly slap on wrist offenders..the data they are presentying is window dressing and aboutr aS acurate as bush's claims about specific wmd volumes..regulatroy agencies (fda, dea, epa) are ecstatic they will now be doing their jobs again..but the good news is obama is intending to actually protect the american people by putting teeth in them again rather than having these agencies being the eunuch playtoys of corporate america as they were under bush...

Uh.. OK. Bushco is faking all the FDA budget numbers and reports.... and, the Democrats in Congress (who have been in control since 2006) are just fine with this?

Meanwhile, Obama is systematically destroying any "hope" this country had for an economic recovery... and, you stay focused on BS stories about past crap that didn't happen. Wow... just, wow. It must really be tough to live in your world.

Katie Couric? and CBS news? That's your source? The network that gave us forged documents about W's National Guard service in the months just before and election?

Here's how biased CBS news is.. in their article about Bush's final approval rating, they show his number's as 22% (which you quote)... and, in the same article, they say this is the "lowest rating since Gallup first started polling this question".... However, the TRUTH is: 22% is the rating in the CBS/New York Times poll... the more respected GALLUP final poll rating was 34%... which, is higher than Harry Truman's final poll number.

I believe NOTHING I hear, or read from CBS... and, with good reason.

W's poll numbers collapsed when he lost the backing of his own party because:

1) He was NOT fiscally responsible. He never vetoed any Republican spending bill no matter how much pork was in it.

2) He supported an amnesty bill for illegal aliens.

3) The economic collapse. Which Bush could have helped prevent by being more conservative early on, and by fighting harder for the reforms he wanted on FMAC and Fannie Mae... reforms that were fillibustered by Senator Dodd and the Democrats. Still though, W should have taken this issue to the people... he would have won.

4) After 2006, he simply quit trying to defend himself, or his own policies.

History will decide whether or not he was good based on one thing:

The final outcome of the war in Iraq. Right now, I'd say the odds are leaning toward a positive result, which would make W look like the "Churchill of his time". But, I think the outcome is still far from certain. If Iraq disinintegrates again, the entire effort will be seen as a waste of resources. It may take another generation before we really know.

I promise you, he will NOT be hated because he actually CUT anything in government. Quite the opposite. He's disliked by Republicans because he allowed government to continue to grow!

After a couple of years of the catastrophe that Obama is creating, this country will look back fondly on the "Bush Years" as the 'Good Ol Times!" :D
