(For Hen) as he doesn't like "rankings"..
(an earlier post got me thinking)

How about playing undefeated teams?

Since 1990 how many games has each BCS team played that would have or did finish the year undefeated if the head-to-head games were removed?

For example Michigan, Nebraska and FSU each played 8 teams undefeated exclusive of the games with Michigan, Nebraska, and FSU. Michigan's opponents were 92-0, Nebraska's foes were 90-0, and FSU's were 91-0. Each of these teams went 4-4 against their undefeated foes. However, Michigan played only 7 D1A teams while Nebraska and FSU played 8 D1A opponents.

Other teams of interest: USC 1-3, PSU 0-4, OSU 2-3, LSU 0-3, OU 1-6, and Texas 3-1 (Houston, Nebraska, USC).

Michigan, Nebraska and FSU are the 3 highest totals of undefeated foes (8 foes) and the most wins (4) against undefeated foes.

Well, the highest except for one team (come on you knew it was coming!).

One team has played an astonishing 14 BCS undefeated foes with a staggering record of 161-0. That's 14 undefeated foes in 19 years. Of course that team would have to be UF. What's more is their record is 9-5 against those teams. That means that UF has BEATEN more "undefeated" teams than any other team has even played!

I have to say that is impressive. A very good analysis Don. Florida does look like they've almost always arrived (most often prevailed) when it was a really big game.
