# of wins/losses in bowl games with win % by conference.

SEC 184/361 50.97%

BIG 10 114/117 49.35%

2. PSU 65%

3. Oklahoma 58.9%

teams over 50

Alabama and.....................................only Bama has over 50 bowl appearances. and a 56.3% win ratio. I think that is amazing!!

The average win percentage of all 119 teams is 32.37%

Less than half have a mark of over 40%

Number of teams over 50% win ratio in BCS leagues = 33

Teams that are over 55% win ratio =18

Number of teams over 55% in the SEC = 5 Big 10=1 Big 12 = 3 ACC= 5 Pac-10= 3 Big East =1

Random Bowl game facts for the BCS title game.

OU has 8 more wins at (24) than Florida has (at 16)

OU has a 58.85 win ratio Florida has a 45.72 win ratio

The winning coach of this game will be the first coach in the BCS era to claim to national championships. (LSU was the first school)

If OU and UF continue thier current bowl trends it will take Florida 40 years to catch up to OU in the win column.

Other random Bowl facts.

The Big East has a losing Bowl record vs every other BCS conference EXCEPT the SEC.

The Pac-10 has a winning record vs every conference except the ACC

The Big 12 has a winning record vs every conference except the BIG-10 and Pac-10.

The SEC has a losing record vs the BIg 10, the Pac-10, the Big 12 and the Big East. They OWN the ACC though. (and Ohio State). In fact, without Ohio State the BIg 10 has a 15-5 record vs the SEC.

Random observations.

I found it interesting that the SEC was by FAR the conference with the most tradition and name schools. I was suprised at how many of the schools had a large number of appearances and a good win %. The SEC had the most over 50% win members. Its no wonder the fans are so rabid (to the point many of them suspend reality in thier thinking of SEC football) about thier conference.

The Big 12 was the most obviously "top heavy" conference in terms of appearances and win percentages. OU, Texas, and Nebraska have more bowl appearances than the rest of the 9 members combined. It had a strange mix of national powerhouse programs and long-time and short time members that were up and down. Okie State is one of the top bowl performers in the entire nation. A&M was amazingly average.

The stats for USC, Alabama, and Penn State were simply amazing.

Anyway, I know the post is long, but I hope you find something in it to interest you,
