Been hanging out with the kids over the holidays so haven't posted much. Just few comments before they wake up...it's only 11 am afterall.....
1. I think I'm 2-3 in the ATS contest....Northwestern and Oregon gave me wins after a shaky start. Troy pi$$ing down their legs after leading by 10 late was one of my loses - I think I took TCU but they didn't cover; nevertheless, that was an outstanding game.
2. The talk about academics - just wanted to add it is probably worse in basketball - why do you think Pitino and Calipari are coaching at Louisville and Memphis, you couldn't get many of those players into schools with at least some academic standards.
3. If anyone is venturing out to see a movie over the holidays, I highly recommend 'Slumdog Millionaire'. You probably have never heard of any of the stars, they're all Indian, but it was a great story and very well done.
4. Someone suggested that Pat Fitzgerald of Northwestern should have been the Big Ten Coach of the Year - I agree 100%. Giving it to Paterno was a joke - the guy sat up in the press conference for the games and most of his decisions were based on whether they should defer the kick-off and if they should punt on 4th and 1. Fitzgerald went 9-3 with probably the lowest ranked recruiting classes in the conference (except maybe Indiana). The guy can flat out coach.
5. Did you get sick of seeing Chase Daniel's family in the stands at the Alamo Bowl? I did - I guess none of the other players' families attended the game - they were on air more than the coaches! Give it a rest ESPN!!!
Have a safe new year...will probably post after all the bowl games the next few days. I'm feeling more and more confident that the Buckeyes are going to have a great game next Monday night.
