You have 16 right. Baylor, Colorado, Pittsburgh, and South Carolina are incorrect. Baylor finished 10-1 in 1980 I think. IIRC, Pittsburgh was 10-1 every year from 78-81. Colorado was 11-0 in '89 and 10-1 in '94. South Carolina was 10-1 in 1984.

What year for Boston College?

BC has not finished within one loss or tie of an unbeaten season during I-A's history. Their best year was 1984 when they finished 9-2.

I guess you shouldn't have counted them as a right answer then.

You are misreading the thread. BC is one of 20 teams that has not finished within one loss or tie of an unbeaten regular season. Therefore, BC is a correct answer.

I can forgive myself for missing Baylor, Colorado and South Carolina, but how could I forget about Pitt's teams???

Well, Pittsburgh teams came at the very beginning. BTW, I think the Panthers were 10-1 from 79 to 81.
