What if Penn State did NOT lose to Iowa? You have to assume than an unbeaten Penn State would be in the BCS Title Game...against...who?
Based on the final BCS rankings, I assume it would have come down to Florida and Oklahoma. I know OU finished ahead of Florida in the final BCS Standings, but would that will have been the case had voters known that they were deciding between the two teams for one final spot in the game?
Would they go with Florida as a one loss SEC Champ, pointing to their win over #1 and unbeaten Alabama, and the SEC's recent success in BCS Title Games the last two years?
Would they care that the the SEC is 4-0 in those BCS title games while Oklahoma was 0-4 in their last four BCS Bowl games?
Would they vote for Florida just because they were sick of trying to choose between Oklahoma and Texas so to be safe they just decide to leave both OU and Texas out?
Or would OU's recent offensive fireworks scoring 60+ for the last month or two impress voters enough to give them the slot over the SEC Champ, just like in 2004 when OU went over Auburn? Or would that memory of 2004 itself make voters give the SEC the nod this time around?
That would have been an interesting debate.
