I do remember Amos and Andy (and the Kingfish). I loved the TV show. I remember that white guys played the parts on radio. I also recall that the radio show had a different name originally (I could cheat and look it up on Wikipedia), but I can't remember the name.
Amos and Andy is the only TV series I know of that is permanently banned because of political correctness. Yet, several black sitcoms in recent years have been far more offensive in portrayals and stereotyping of blacks.

that the black powers that be saw fit to ban it.It was an all black cast and one of the funniest shows ever.
The 'Mystic Knights of the sea lodge hall' where they congragated was classic.Characters such as 'Lightnin' the janitor and Algonquin J.Calhoon as the inept lawyer. I have several tapes of these shows on VHS still.
The one reason for the banning was that it depicted blacks as stupid and gullible ( Andrew H.Brown case in point) but if you examine recent T-V shows, who were more stupid than Gomer Pyle and Goober Pyle on the Andy Griffin show ? Sometimes blacks are too sensitive and fail to realize that this was great humor.

Was Amos and Andy more offensive or stereotyping than The Beverly Hillbillies or The Real McCoys? I think not.
