Bottomline, Period.
It will be a crime if Texas is not playing for a National Championship this year.
I don't care who the opponent is, whether its a rematch against OU or Texas Tech, against the SEC Champ, or vs. USC
I don't care if they're Big XII Champs or not...
If Texas isn't playing in Miami this year, the system has failed yet again

It's their own fault. Should have scheduled tougher OOC games.

;) Why? If Oklahoma and Texas played again next week, OU would beat them. Look at performance thus far. Who has Texas actually obliterated? Yes they beat OU, but won it in the 4th quarter but Ole Miss beat Florida and Florida may very well beat Alabama. OU also has a more impressive OOC vs. Cincinnati and TCU. The cows were picked to beat A&M by 35 and got them by 40. So, do I see jaws dropping over this pounding? Hell, KSU put up 44 on the Aggies and Arkansas State beat them in the opener.
 Since Ole Miss beat Florida then why should they be considered for the BCS title game even if they beat Alabama? You SEC homers are drinking way too much moonshine !!! Eitehr that or you've had your brains pickled by cheap 3.2 down at a roadside bar.
 Before you pass judgement on the "outrage" if Texas doesn't get to the BCS title game you may want to reserve your judgement until after OU and Okla. State tomorrow. I realize Les has let you guys down this year but that is Les and I've warned you time and again what kind of gas mileage you're going to get with this dude.

I'll buy that for the Big XII Championship
But for the National Championship?
If you just look at the losses, Texas lost on the road in the waning seconds, while Oklahoma lost by 10 on a neutral field
This is 2000 all over again, with FSU going over Miami
To think that Oklahoma could have a National Championship while Texas, who has the same record and a win over OU, would have to settle for a Fiesta bowl win, well that would be another black eye for the BCS

So we should overrule actual on-the-field results in favor of how we think they might match up now??
lol
Don't get me wrong, I've got no problem with Oklahoma winning the tiebreaker as far as the Big XII Championship is concerned...but the National Championship?
Who has Texas obliterated? lol
How bout you! Head-to-head in Dallas...they played Oklahoma, Missouri, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech all back to back for their Big XII gauntlet
None of the other Big XII South teams had that kind of schedule...hell, Oklahoma had 2 weeks before Texas Tech, and Oklahoma State has 2 weeks before OU
When I watch Texas, I see a team that has had too remarkable of a season to get passed over for the National Championship...and if they are, put them in the same category as Ohio State '98, Miami '00, and Oregon '01

Hey, I don't have any problem with a rematch either, and I'm not saying OU doesn't have an argument....I'm just saying Texas is one of the most deserving teams in the land...only an undefeated Alabama has a better argument IMO

I tend to agree...Texas at 11-1, even if they don't win their silly Big 12 tiebreaker to play for their conference title, has a great resume and should be able to compete for the MNC. It would be a shame if they did not. The problem is...there are only two slots. They would be in if it were four teams.
That said, something tells me they will get in. They are done and can sit back and watch teams like Alabama, Florida, Oklahoma, etc all play tough games still over the next couple of weekends. They could be like Ohio State last year and be done and be in the safest position of NOT having to play and thus watching the others fall and find themselves at #2 or even #1 in the BCS when all is said and done. Lots of football left to be played.

the "Bearcats" are in the BCS if they beat Cuse(a no brainer)Big East champions.Thats 2 years in a row that Pitt socked it to W.Virginia.

You mean Alabama with their awesome ONE win over a ranked team all season?! That Alabama? They dont deserve a top ranking. They just dont. Florida will prove it and if they fail by some miracle, the BIG 12 rep will beat them by 3 TDs or more.

The point that is missing is that the argument over which among a number of very deserving teams has an opportunity to play for the MNC is a matter of OPINION.
Texas may or may not be one of the two best teams in the country, but we will never know. In fact, even if Texas plays for and wins the MNC, we will never know if it is one of the two best teams.
All this talk of whether or not Texas deserves to play for the national championship is just a tad ahead of what actually still needs to be done to play for that BCS natinal championship. It is called "MISSOURI". Now Texas thumped them solidly in Austin this year, 56-31. Very impressive in my opinion. But now Oklahoma should forget about that hopeful encounter and concentrate on the Cowboys. They are doing this - make no mistake. It is teh sports media that is talking "future" games and not anybody in Norman. Only Texas can now concentrate on Missouri as they finished business vs. A&M. Missouri has had a couple of weeks now to get used to the idea of a 13th game. They'll have a tough one vs. Kansas today.
As I said, Texas can now focus on Missouri. But keep this in mind. While on paper Missouri doesn't stack up to OU or Texas, they will be playing this game in a very cold Kansas City. This is Missouri's turf and the weather is anything but what Austin is enjoying. Fortunately for OU they will be playing in a cold environment. The high this day is expected to be 47 with a north wind. At 7PM local tonight its going to be noticably colder.
I recall Texas beating Nebraska, Texas A&M over Kansas State, Colorado in a revenge repeat over Texas, Kansas State over Oklahoma. These title games have proven to be more troublesome to the Big 12 top dog. The Big 12 lost out on playing for a national championship in 1996, 1997 directly. Nebraska and Oklahoma shouldn't have made it to the BC title in 2001/2003. In 2001 Texas would ahve made it except they got upset by Colorado and would have displaced Nebraska.
Now lets say its Texas that is selected. They'll eitehr play for the national title with a win over Missouri or Missouri will win hte Big 12. OKlahoma, if they go 11-1 and are not selected to represent the south will benefit with a Texas loss as they might move into a #2 position without winning the Big 12. If Texas does win over Missouri then OU is still in the BCS fray as Mizzou would be 10-3 and probably Cotton Bowl bound vs. Mississippi, Texas playing for the national title in Miami.
Basically if OU wins over OSU ... Texas beats Missouri, both Texas and OU are in the BCS. Missouri beats Texas, OU and Missouri in the BCS. OU beats Missouri, the Sooners and Longhorns are in the BCS. Missouri and Texas stand to lose out while all OU has to do is beat OSU to go to one of the many really, big shows. So, let Texas get selected. The money OU will bring into the Big 12 is coming either way - if they take care of business today.
