The average number of losses for the teams that they beat this year is 8! Weis has been a shocking failure. I want to have his agent represent me in all future negotiations.

Notre Dame's wins by conference:
1-0 vs. Mountain West
2-0 vs. PAC 10
2-1 vs. Big 10
0-2 vs. ACC
0-2 vs. Big East
I'm not sure why the Big East and ACC are constantly bashed
teams with a combined 20-49 record...three of the coaches are out of their jobs, they damn near lost to 2-10 SDSU and Navy after leading by 20 with about 5 minutes to play. They are horrible. They lost to Syracuse who had fired their coach the week before. UNC has proven mediocre, BC and/or MSU are probably the two best teams they've played and MSU lost to OSU and PSU by a combined score of 94 to 21. You can not derive anything regarding the strength of any conference played by Notre Dame because they played no elite teams and they only beat one team with a winning record and that was Navy. Just pathetic.

my guess is they keep him another year, and if he doesn't win at least 9 or 10 games, he's history.
A monumental mistake was made when Chuck Weis was brought in at Notre Dame. The man never played college football so doesn't have that actual experience. Honestly, I don't know wher he might have been an assitant on a college campus. But coaching New England is alot different than coaching a high school kid. The pros already are expert and are paid as such (Good God All Mighty aren't they !!!). His maion qualifiers were that he coached in the pros, was Notre Dame graduate and he is a good Catholic. So was Faust and look what that got them. Willingham has the strong academian and character recruiting practice down pat. But look what happened to his teams once he replaced most of Davies' players with his own.
In all fairness I would have to say that Lou Holtz was the last good hire they made. Ara Parsigan (sp?) before him. Probably had a different AD and a lot of folks not at UND anymore who made those selections. Solid men with who could instill an attitude, a deep respect for the school and the tradition.
The boosters and others with deep pockets made a major mistake in not only bringing Weis onboard but not noticing what he was replacing Davies' players with. Good young men but not enough. His coaching staff probably leaves something to be desired as well. Can't speak for their character but Notre Dame is a living legend and I'm hoping most think they are playing for God when they run out of the tunnel. UND deserves a lot of respect because the legend of Notre Dame is a hard one to outdo.
Now Florida State. Bobby Bowden basically has a job for life where he will determine when HE has had enough rather than the school itself. This is very counter productive because, like Joe Paterno at Penn State, he is engaging in a pecker contest to see who will get that one extra win when both leave coaching. OC Fisher is supposedly unleashed. I think he might have been given a multitude of links but he still must bow to the man in Tallahassee which means he not only has to produce but play politics with the Godfather. Either run this guy for office or get the hell out of his way. Fisher was a genius at LSU so let him dazzle the football universe by making him a co-head coach with decision making/non-veto decisions. The old man is a figure head anymore and is just in it for the "W" column. The otehr coaches are actually trying to produce success and not laying around having grapes tossed into their mouths giving a thumbs up/down on FSU life/death issues on the field when he is only half there.
Bowden's defiance is counter productive. If he wants that cash to continue then he must put the Seminoles' football program ahead of himself. HAving said that I think FSU is going to give Florida a game they aren't really expecting - and its about time. If they beat Florida he should retire as he may win the ACC (if Maryland can upset BC). We already know he has a pretty good record vs. VPI. If HIS team can win that one and then beast Cincinnati in the Orange Bowl he will have ended well and should call it a career - going out a huge winner. He is already a living legend. Just don't f*ck it all up by sticking around.

That's a lot of events that you're asking to occur:
FSU over Florida (upset)
Maryland over BC (upset)
FSU over VaTech
FSU over Cinci
Not gonna happen...another year for Bobby!
