View Full Version : Well ... this is most unexpected ...
Oklahoma has aleady amassed 401 yards of offense and running through the Tech'sters like a knife though melted butter. Hard to imagine that Bradford, Murray adn Madu area ll sophomores, Brown is a junior and there are a gaggle of redshirt freshmen and sophomores on defense. Tech has around 140 yards. Oklahoma gets the ball to start the second half. I expect it to go to 42-7 with the first drive in the third quarters. Oooopppsss ... pick returned to the one. I guess 42-7 might come early and 49-7 about 4 minutes into the third. Style points? What more do you want BCS folks? Lets see USC pull one of these circus shows - they get style points just by being USC.
I think we've got a 66-28 game again. I never would have thought this could happen. Oklahoma better be #2 after this obliteration. Expect Venables to go to Clemson for 2009 and possibly Kevin Wilson to go to TCU or Tennessee.

Again, we boil down to "who's #2"? OU score beauty contest points tonight.
Vegas has all the current one loss teams as double digit favorites over Alabama.
So when Florida whips 'bama in the SEC title game and we have at least five one loss teams all trying to say "pick us"! Do the whiney little Presidents get their feelings hurt again and threaten to "end it all"????
I say Boise and Utah for the MNC. Anyone got a viable argument as to why not. Remember SOS is statistically IRRELEVANT accord to mathematicians....

the BCS National Championship game. While a non-playoff determination has its drawbacks, they do qualify the actual "title" of this game. If a playoff occurred I think Utah and Bosie might win their first games and Utah would prove to have more staying power. Would make the Top 8 or perhaps even the Final Four. I think BSU would lose in the second round (Top 8).
You'll ask why? I can respond with Utah State, Idaho, New Mexico State and a few MWC teams that have no staying power. Yes, they can win vs. a BCS opponent but then they fall back into their own world and most often don't make it through unscathed.

Margin of victory hurts boise, it has to. If not, OU demolishing TT would mean no more than Boise winning by 7 against nevada.
Zoom and HTTVV, I think having all those one-loss teams as double digit favorites over Alabama is a lure for the idiots who actually bet money on these things. If anything, Alabama has shown a hihg level of focus along with playing very smart football. Perhaps a lot of their "previously" regarded marquis wins over teams that have since slid backwards are adding discount points to their accomplishment. Yet who is ranked atop the polls? ALABAMA. At the times they played those same opponents were highly regarded and Alabama applied a reality check to each. 20/20 is so insightful by those bookies etc. But I will say that only their blowout over Georgia remains a serious thumbs up. LSU and Clemson have since shown a trend towards a good/average rating. Also, in two games for the Tech'sters (vs. Nebraska and Texas) a dropped pass or some other single event would have made OU's win over Tech just another Saturday evening stomping in Norman.

I'd personally love to see Boise and Utah play, formal MNC game or not, getting the only two undefeated teams together would be great. Well two of the three remaining undefeated teams assuming Ball St wins out...

Even with the impressiv ewin by OU over Tech last night I think Texas still nudges OU out in the real polls. They lost the #1 ranking and the game on a single pass completion to Crabtree with 0:01 remaining. OU is the hottest team in the Big 12 but did not prove they deserve the crown in losing to Texas. The pollsters might feel differently but OU's dismal showing in its last four BCS bowls will be considered - you just can't advertise it as such. Texas has rose to the occasion when playing BCS bowls while OU got upset or just plain blown out (USC and West Virginia). Those historical facts will be conisdered.
