And they did, putting VT back in charge of it's own destiny.
Win out against Duke and the Hoos, and they are back in the ACC-CG.
Considering the youth of this team, it's would make for a successful season.
And they are certainly capable of beating whoever represents the other division.

Gotta like VaTech's chances to take that division now. The ACC division races have been very exciting and fun to follow this year. As has the Big 12 South race. The SEC's division titles were decided unusually early but as a Gator I guess I can't complain.
I just love the CCG format. Having two six-team divisions keeps more teams in the championship hunt later into the season, and the championship game at the end for the ring is as good as it gets in FBS College Football.
Don't get me wrong, the round robin format as seen in the Big East and PAC 10 is "fair." But on average I don't think it's as exciting down the stretch and the possibility of ending up with "co champs" at the conference level is a bit disappointing. It's bad enough that the possibility exists to have co-champs in the MNC race. No reason to have it at the conference level when there is a max of 12 teams IMO.
How about the Big Ten adds a team, and the PAC 10 adds a pair and we call it a day? Can you imagine a "championship Saturday" with five such conference title games all on one day? That would be better than January 1st IMO.

Well I certainly enjoyed the game tonight.
At this point GT is done with the ACC games, just have UGA left. No matter what, we will tie for 1st place in the division. Not bad for a first year coach, first year offense, etc.

As bad as the ACC is this year, this conference has been, without a doubt, the funnest conference race i have followed in years....

Paul Johnson is the real deal. A Disciple of Fisher DeBerry and Bob Wagner, he has modified the triple option to the early 21st century, and once he gets the players to really run it, it will be Oklahoma of the 70's and early 80's again. Always wondered what a true triple option guy (as opposed to the "spread") could do with BCS conference talent. We saw Air Force and his Navy squads compete and make and win bowls and now he has a legit BCS team to work with.
Always knew the old triple option was still a viable college offense and GT proves it.

Several computer systems currently rate the ACC as the 2nd strongest conference .

That would be exciting, GG, and REALLY exciting if those champs would be advancing to something meaningful on the national scale in which they'd be encountering each other on the FB fields.....rather than in polls.
... to see Miami suck on the football field. Thank that arrogant punk Jimmy Johnson, and his jailhouse bully/punk mentality with his players for permanently altering my regard for these "Storks".
