Say the SEC did NOT have a conference championship game and was like the Big Ten and played 8 conference games. This season, Alabama and Florida did not play in the regular season. Let's pretend that Florida had never lost to Ole Miss and finished 12-0 and Alabama also finished 12-0. Let's also pretend that Oklahoma beats Texas Tech this weekend. There's a very good chance that the BCS Rankings would look like this:
1. Florida (12-0)
2. Alabama (12-0)
3. One loss Big 12 Champ (11-1)
Would anyone have a problem with Florida playing Alabama in the BCS Championship Game? They would essentially both benefit from NOT having a conference title game. This could have happened in 2006 with Ohio State and Wisconsin had Wisconsin not lost late. How would people outside of the participating teams and conferences feel about such a scenario?

no doubt that would be extremely retarded
one day, brain cells will start working in Big 11 country and they'll add someone and get a championship game going

Id rather play EVERYONE in the league than have a CCG and not having played all the teams.
Lets say Auburn was a 10-2 or 11-1 type team this year. Florida would still have not played them in the CCG with the year Alabama is having.

ya, round robin is certainly a great setup...
but I also think the Championship game setup is certainly a great way to go for conferences too big for everyone to play each other...in your scenario, Florida would at least be playing the top team in the West, which is Alabama...if Auburn wanted to be in the championship game, they should have beaten Alabama
The problem with the Big 10 setup, is that its neither, and you can have bizarre situations which leave the conference unconcluded (if thats a word)

I think not too long ago Iowa and Ohio St both went 8-0 in conference. Never did play each other.
The more outrageous outcome that is actually realistic is two Big 12 south teams could conceivably end up in the MNC game. TT beats OU and 'Bama loses to UF in the SEC game we probably would have a TT-Texas rematch. Same if OU beats TT and 'Bama loses to UF...we get OU-Texas rematch.
Gotta just love the BCS...
