Pretty good Dennis Dodd column over at CBSSportsline regarding this ridiculous NCAA APR system of eligibility......and the need for a full fledged NFL minor league and developmental system for athletically gifted but cerebrally challenged athletes. With such a system these kids could pursue their sport and start drawing a paycheck without having to be disguised as 'college' students....and colleges wouldn't have to resort to all this academic fraud to keep these guys eligible.

I read the article too and believe that everyone knows where universities stack up against others. One comparison to the NFL or NBA minor league system that Dodd's article omits is how the NHL has a well developed minor league system and yet many North American players and a growing number of non-Russian European players still choose to play in college even if they get drafted by an NHL team and even though there is a fairly well-developed minor league hockey system in the U.S. While hockey is not a nat'l money maker for colleges as is football and basketball, within the hockey world, college hockey provides the players with great exposure to NHL scouts.
Just a thought. Also, Dodd is a huge SEC fan and his article is definitely not in support of the SEC student-athlete philosophy. It has been rare for me to follow Dodd without a pro-SEC slant.
