LSU was down to Troy 31-3 in the third quarter. 37 points later, 30 of which came in the 4th, LSU won 40-31.
You'd miss that if you just read box scores.

How did LSU allow themselves to fall behind 31-3 when both teams were fresher? Now that all of Les Miles' Saban-recruits are gone, you're seeing what he can actually deliver. They could esaily be a 6-4 team looking at a Peach Bowl. I'd not be surprised to see Mississippi beat them next week. I believe Troy came in at 5-4 and LSU at 6-3. Clearly LSU is the superior team. Was it a hangover from theri loss to Alabama? Two blowout losses to Florida and Georgia?
While coming back with 37 unanswered points is impressive, it is strongly tempered by falling behind by 28 to begin with. Try that vs. Florida. Oh, they did and the final was 51-21 Florida in the swamp. Georgia pounded them on their own turf. LSU is behaving like the stock market.
Along with Chunk Weis at Notre Dame, Les Miles is the only other coach I can see on the Big Time Radar who won the lottery with an extended, multi-year lucrative contract. Hope the alums like paying millions for a series of 9-3 and 8-4 years in Baton Rouge and 6-6 to 8-4 years in South Bend.

way off base here...
Jim, what exactly does LSU have left to play for? No National Title hopes, no SEC Title hopes...the season from here on out looks kind of dreary...Troy comes to town from a postponed game earlier in the season, and playing SEC teams is their super bowl...LSU sleepwalked for 3 quarters, and then decided they wanted to win after all
What exactly does all that have to do with Les Miles not recruiting well? This LSU team is loaded everywhere except QB
LSU played toe-to-toe with Georgia, in a game that went into the 4th quarter, and the Tigers outplayed Alabama for most of the game...this year, Jarrett Lee has given out 35 points in returned interceptions...thats the story of LSU this year, plain and simple
Miles wasn't out-coached by Saban, and IMO, the outlook that he is NOT a good coach is unfounded...he's registered wins over Bob Stoops, Frank Beamer, Steve Spurrier, Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, and Jim Tressel
In fact, the sole reason why LSU has done this poorly, which is play at QB, is because he kicked Ryan Perrilloux off the team in the Spring...this LSU team could easily be 9-1 right now with solid QB play
So let me ask you again...what exactly does LSU have left to play for? A loaded team has gone as far as their quarterback's arm has taken them
I also wouldn't be surprised if we lose to Ole Miss...they're a good team, and they beat Florida after all, Houston Nutt has them playing good

It may be the Super Bowl for Troy but its the LSU tradition for the Bayou Bengals. If they needed a crying towel they should have shed all their tears by Sunday evening last week. Troy showed up to play when it was 0-0. If anybody expected the worst to await them it was Troy. At least Les Miles got Tony the Tiger to give them a pep-talk at the half. I gave them credit for coming back but their preparation showed a lack of respect for the team they were playing. A lot of teams aren't going to win their conferences or play in bowl games much less the BCS but at least they shown up and are prepared to play from the opening kick off.
Don't make excuses for them. Les Miles is excuse enough. Think I'm all wet? time will tell.
As an addition, Les Miles isn't a BAD coach. And he was outcoached by Saban, by Richt and by Meyer. Yes, he did beat Oklahoma and a few others. But he is now minus all of Saban's recruits and Bo Pelini. They are inconsistent and the SEC is growing more balanced (Vandy, Kentucky, Ole Miss, even Miss. State). Might be kind of a slam on my part but he is now right in the middle of the fire and its going to get hot - real hot.

Box scores detail all the scores and when they occured, as well as points broken down by quarter, so you really wouldn't miss any of that if you looked at a box score.

Les Miles might have announced that he was talking to Michigan before the season ended if LSU lost to Troy.

cmon Jim...there's not a whole lot of logic here
Whats Les Miles supposed to do, get in the line up and play QB himself?
