How many more seasons, of a bullpen hell-bent on killing our season before it even starts, do I have to sit through?
Had the game on during my ride home from work. Marty and whoever the guy with the southern accent is were speculating that the Reds probably have at least as many quality starts as do the Brewers. Difference being that the brewers have a major league bullpen. It's May and the Reds are now 8 back. Something has to change in a hurry. Hearing anything down your way?

I don't have any inside info, but I've been a Reds fan my whole life. This is quite pathetic, and I think this goes back all the way to the Kearns/Lopez trade. I get Lopez. He was an error machine. But why Kearns? Freel could playing the IF, and the Reds wouldn't have had to spend money on Alex Gonzalez. He's a great defensive SS, and solid hitter, and worth what he makes, just wasn't necessary. Gave up Felipe and Kearns for Majewski...was injured, and stunk most of the time...Bray...on the DL I think...some minor leaguers, and two hitters who are long gone. Worst trade ever. Could've spent that money on some freakin pitching.
Mike Stanton needs to just be outright released. Now.
I'm not sure how many games the bullpen has blown this year but it must be at least 7 or 8. David Weathers should have been cut last year, Stanton was washed up two years ago, Coffey doesn't have the 'nads to be a great closer and the Reds, in their infinite wisdom, game him a contract extension. The guys from the Kearns and Lopez trade were obviously damaged goods as was Everyday Eddie. Its a disgrace because they finally have 3 or 4 guys who can consistently go out and give them 6 or 7 quality innings. The probelm is it's a 9 inning game and they don't have anyone who can bridge the gap from inning 7 to 9. Also, Eric Milton needs to get on with his life's work. He is a human batting machine.
And you know its bad when the only thing fans can cheer about in this extremely conservative town is the comeback of a former crackhead/alcoholic...Josh Hamilton. Right now, he's the only positive story. And honestly, I'm happy for the guy and I'm rooting for him...but after all the crap the Reds have tried to pawn off s improvement, the fans deserve better.

and then tonight the D took a turn. Shame Belisle got the L. Should go to Edwin. They just can't win. If the bullpen doesn't lose it, the defense, which has been for the most part decent loses it. The starting pitching is actually above average. It's kind of strange. I wouldn't mind seeing everyone but Salmon and Coutlangus and Saarloos gone. Demote Eric Milton when his ERA inevitable reaches 8(the number of millions he makes this season) and start Kirk. Call everyone up from L'Ville. Can't get worse.

I just had FSN's Final Score highlights on. Funny thing was last night I turned the radio off when Cincy had a 9-5 lead late. I watched the highlights, this morning, and saw one of our fantastic closers serve up what appeared to be a grandslam in the top of the 9th! I'm thinking, "you gotta be effffing kidding me...." I think it was Ensberg that hit it. anyway, ended up foul by just a foot or so. reds hold on for, what's for them, a 9-5 "nailbiter." 9.5 back on May 11th. I think I can safely say it's been virtually all the bullpen. But what's really scary is when the starters go into an inevitible slide. 162 game season. The staff will have its moments.
Just a dang shame a line-up like this has to suffer through a double A caliber bullpen. it's May 11th and we're essentially done. pathetic.
