...penn st fans -( did you think i was gonna say republicans?)...fwiw- here in the baltimore-d.c. corridor whats unusual is that the CF enthusiasm is most intense for 2 out of state teams. Vatech and PSU fans are more prominent, overt and enthusiastic than maryland football fans by a large margin. this is obviosuly a redskins/ravens fanbase. so sparring with psu fans becomes an obligation...over the past 2 months, their enthusiasm for a miracle title run season, replete with the rich sentimentality for joepa , has grown and grown...so this week, the look in their eyes of the 1/2 dozen or so fans i know has been like the look you see when someones granparent dies...so disconsolate, so complete... whcih means i jsut feel so awful about humming the iowa fight song to them, calling them about a new patient i am referrign to them named "ricky stanzi"( the iowa qb), asking if ferrentz is a suitable replacement for joe pa, wondering out loud to them if anyone outside of w. pa. will watch a dull oregon st- penn st rose bowl?...i have jsut such an awful bastard ...i a wracked with guilt...will the PSU nation- i.e. the northern neanderthal subspecies version of the well-documented drunken neanderthal LSu fan subspecies ever accept my sincere apology????
