Sorry guys for another political post, but this board has the most intelligent people- compared to political boards, so I enjoy the responses more.
So, to the point, anyone notice the convenient timing of Obama's latest remarks?
Russia threatens to use missiles against US targets in Eastern Europe over the missile shield, basically threatening us and our allies. Iran test fires a long range missile capable of striking Israel and carrying all sorts of weapons. And what does Obama say: "We still only have one president at a time."
Oh, well then. Russia and Iran blatantly test our will immediately after the election, and Obama brushes it off by saying "We only have one president at a time."
Funny. Pelosi, Reid, Obama, etc, had no problem spewing their world view and disgust with our foreign policy during the last 8 years. All of a sudden now they refuse to comment, "respecting" George W. Bush's presidency?? Unbelievable. Pelosi even went on a (illegal) trip to the Middle East to push her own foreign policy agenda.
Just a hint of whats to come. We have put the spineless, cowardly left into office. Think Iran and Russia are going to stop with these minor threats? Think again.
I hope there isn't a major international crisis on January 19th, 2009 at 11:59 pm. If there is, expect Obama to respond "George W. Bush is still the president for 1 more minute......ask him what to do, not me."

... since Obama wasn't asked to make a decision and have our military act upon it. Basically, passing the buck. I think it might be an attempt to remove himself for as long as is possible and let Bush either screw it up or act on it. Obama will either come to the rescue through capitualtion or receive credit for any sustained positive policy even though he didn't actually particpate in its decision/implementation. The media will accommodate him - count on it.
Will our adversaries become more embolden? B90, you and I both know this is just the beginning. Take a glance at the increased terrorist activiteis even within Iraq. Shortly, the guests in GTMO will be back home to kill some more GIs. Again, we're the evil of the world. An alarming number of our own youth have no use for the military. How long b efore Sharia law takes over Michigan - for starters?
Heard that Bin Laden is now a lot less powerful and is fighting for his owen survival. Guess his lieutenants etc. didn't want to wait too long for all of those virgins so splintered off but still like his occasional blessing -complements of Al Jazerra. He seems to have assumed more of a spiritual role. A smiling down from Osama is like the Prophet himself giving you a thumbs up.
I'm pondering over how the media will spin our declining economy all on the Bush administration and the republicans as if the democrats had no power to prefvent anything. Also, did you notice that there is no accountability with the bailouts and no oversight committee. Dems in control for two years now. And Sen Dodd (D-CT) could be seen chewing out the Wall Street crowd that he has been in cahoots with for years. A wink and a nod. Dodd may be powerful but money speaks louder than words - ask any successful politician who needs to constantly keep those coffers filled.
Not long ago a huge crowd was at an Obama rally. One of the crowd stopped and shouted out that the people in the crowd were "tinking too much". He told them to stop thinking and get into the "feeling" of it.
Sorry, but I've got to basically paraphrase what Hitler once said. Long ago he said that he loved big crowds because the people stopped thinkng and began to feel.
Being college football fans who've attended games we can all understand the concept of a group action (cheering, doing the wasve, picking up on nicknames and using words like "we" and "us").
It now appears that the Secretary of State in Minnesota (an ACORN member by the way) has determined that those counting the votes in those three heavily democratic counties can determine the "intent" of those voters. I guess if they have an "Obama" sticker on their car that might do it. Or since 64% voted democratic then it they must think why not 90-100%? Afterall, the majority wil be happy.
Isn't it highly interesting there has been no gain at all for the republican but jsut a constant chipping away. Also these same voters didn't seem to have an issue in knowing how to vote for Obama, or anybody running for a House seat. But Al Franken, the pornographer, the tax cheat, the failed comedian and radio voice, is exactly what all those people want representing them?
This is high fraud and anybody, regardless of political persuasion, would find it hard to come up with a real explanation for why this is occurring.

You guys are too much.
If Obama had said what the US should do, you would have been all over him for his arrogance and disrespect to the President, by acting like the president while Bush was still in office.
Don't pretend that wouldn't be your response, either.

But I think Obama has already demonstrated his arrogance and has clearly stated his disrespect for President Bush for, oh ... around two years now. I think he's already acted like the president. Hell, the logos on his plane clearly borrow heavily from the presidential seal. His adoring crowd/spokesmen/supporters have slipped up and called him president on several occasions. He campaigned as only a head of state would be legally in their right to do so in Kenya and even made a European tour.
"wouldn't be my response" ... what about the above? Where was your response when he was overstepping his bounds?

From what I am reading, Obama's economic advisers will have an early task of implementing a public works-type program to employ the masses.
Maybe expanding our war and defense efforts by expanding the armed forces will help keep the unemployment rate down. And we won't need a draft as green jobs will only create so many jobs.
It would nice to see infrastructure repair and development programs but that's going to require money that we do not have unless we print more money. Borrowing should not and may not be an option and will raising income taxes. However, our roads and bridges could be repaired or replaced.

I never said he did overstep his bounds.
I only point out that hypocrisy of Bucs calling him out for not doing something that would seem disrespectful to the President.
Just like I pointed out the hypocrisy of him complaining about Obama's choice for Chief of Staff based on his Zionist support of Israel, a decidedly positive position for the far right wing of the party.
The point is, no matter what Obama does, it will be criticized. Even when he does things that shouldn't piss off the right.
I can see it now. Obama will wear a flag lapel pin and swear to the Presidency on the bible, and Bucs90 will come in complaining "What a fake, everyone knows Obama's an American-hating Muslim".

Our roads and bridges will be repaired when they fall down and kill people. Just like our levees will be repaired when they fail and kill people.
We never have allocate sufficient money for infrastructure repair until people get killed. Wouldn't want to raise taxes. Got a war to win too.
We've got a war to win, you know.

HYH,
I understand your points.
We see world leaders meeting in Washington on the fixing the global economy. They keep talking about staying away from protectionistic policies as the global economy is here to stay.
It seems to me that American workers would benefit from a self-sufficient nation. Consumer prices may rise but people consume too much and we won't have Chinese lead and melamine in our children's toys and milk.
Investors may be hurt by protectionist policies but may be not. It depends how we value these companies. If it's not growth and market share as the barometer, there could be capital gains to be made.
CEOs may not make as much but I'll give them a towel to cry on if they need one.

Jim, you are an insightful guy. You see things that are brewing....much to the suprise of the blind Obama followers. Speaking of GITMO, here is what scares me the most about that: Obama has said he'll close GITMO. Thats basically a done deal.
Now, there is the problem. Where to put them and what to do with them? I still visit Charleston, SC, regularly as many friends and family live there. In today's Charleston newspaper, an article outlined Obama's desires for the detainees. It showed his statements and intent to bring them to "maximum security" prisons in the USA, and get this, give them trials in American courts so they "can be afforded their rights under the constitution". Um, foreign enemy combatants get the same rights as Joe the Crack Dealer in Harlem now?
Why is this important in Charleston? In Hanahan, a suburb of Charleston, the Navy Brig holds prisoners. That is where Jose "Dirty Bomber" Padilla was held for years. The government is mentioning the Hanahan Navy facility as a likely place to move them.....which is next to the major Charleston metro area, and one of the nations 4 largest ports and the 2nd largest port on the East Coast. And Obama thinks this is a good idea.
And for the scary part. The article also said that, if found not guilty, these prisoners would have to be released somewhere. And their home countries have already said they will not take them back. So, being found "not guilty" in American civilian courts, they will be released.....onto American streets.
Basically, if Obama's wishes come true, he will UNINTENTIONALLY have put the following flow chart into conclusion:
American military captures suspected enemy terrorist combatants.
Combatants held at GITMO.
Obama closes GITMO.
Combatants moved to American prison.
Obama orders civilian courts to hold trials and afford all rights to combatants.
Many combatants found not guilty.
Home countries deny the return of these innocent men.
These innocent men are given refuge in our nation.
These men hold no hard feelings for their capture, detention, etc, and become model citizens in America.
Well, one part of that chart is wrong. But, that shitstorm is brewing as we speak.

Hmmmm. So, for the last 8 years, Pelosi, Reid and Obama have ripped our president and our military, accusing our military of killing innocent civilians and air-raiding towns, on national television at that. Questioning the war, criticizing how it is being fought, openly making statements that demoralize our troops and our population back home. They spend 8 years commenting on very move we make in foreign policy, Pelosi actually making an illegal trip to Syria to undermine that policy....................and now that they have total power in 2 months they decide to play nice and respect Bush?
Bullshit. They know what they have on their plate. Russia and Iran are going to embarrass Obama. I hope I'm wrong, but they are in way over their head on the war issues. Remember, "threat of war" is a war issue. Iran and Russia made open threats immediately after the election. Funny, now that they are taking power, after 8 years of shameless criticizing and armchair commanding, they are silent.

Not, not at all. I don't give a shit how he swears himself in. Let him wear a damn turban if he wants. Symbolism doesn't mean shit, really. Action does.
And for 8 years, Obama, Reid, Pelosi and co. haven't given a damn about disrespecting not only our president, but our military also.
Now, all of a sudden, they are gonna go silent when two of the USA's biggest rivals openly threaten us and our interests? What you all and all the Obama followers don't realize is THAT was his first test from Russia and Iran!! They did it on purpose before he was inaugurated!! Right after the election! They tested his will and courage, and he failed to respond.
The way I see it is Obama Inc. spent the last 8 years openly condemning our president and our military when they thought we were wrong......but now refuse to comment on Russia or Iran when they are wrong. Is this how Obama will respond to foreign threats in the future....with silence?

Our nation is always and will always be under a threat or threats of war. If that means that we should not be silent and use force at all times, then my point about the military being our nation's best jobs program is well supported.
What is being discussed will happen to Obama by our enemies compares with what actually happened to Bush. Less than 1 year after his nomination, buildings and planes went down and the world changed forever.
I think the Pentagon would be prepared equally no matter who became the President this time. They will be prepared and are asking for more troops in Afghanistan where Obama wants to fight.
As to Russia, 80% of business and military leaders from Russia said they would have voted for Obama over McCain. Time will determine if it's because they want better relations or because Obama was perceived to be more of a pushover.

...would defer at this time. And I can also see why Bucs90 would say this was a test directed at Obama. Pelosi, Reid, Schumer, Frank, Dudd etc. are true cowards and this has been evident for some time. Russian and iran already know they;ll shit themselves if any sabre is rattled loud enough. I'm just wondering what the Clintonistas, which translates into Obama's NEW and CHANGE peanut gallery, is going to do if the rattling crecendos much more. Clinton bombed an aspiring facotry and held back on taking out Obama on numerous occasions while he was in office.
I'm expecting Obama might have even more reservations since his voting blocks are against the war and want more money directed to "pay backs" for electing him. Might add that the Civile Defense Force (a.k.a. 21st century brown shirts) will need more dollars thus cutting deeply into the military budget. Don't let his "Operation: Afghanistan" bullcrap fool you. He wants out and hes hoping for a situation to occur that will make congress shit in their pants. Considering our future and the current congressional leadership you might also hear screams and high heels clicking on the marble all the way to the ladie's room. Might also hear it headed to the men's room as well.
And thisis from that evil tyrant Murdock (according to the pseudo-intelligencia).
