Wow...that's a lot of money that ESPN is offering to take the package away from FOX for the 2010 - 2013 seasons. The BCS games would all be on Cable TV? And does this mean that the ESPN crew will now avoid the "p word" and we now have to hear about how great the regular season is in college football, how exciting the BCS is, etc? Yuck. The worst part of this is that it officially will mean that not even a simple four-team BCS mini playoff will be coming until the 2014 season at the earliest. But I guess we already knew that.

Doesn't ESPN usually run a playoff simulation each year?

It is my impression that most of the people at ESPN seem interested in a playoff. IF both side are agreeable then can't the contract be voided? IF the NCAA wants a playoff it should/could now be do-able. Maybe this might be a GOOD thing for D1A. :)

Herbie said yesterday that a playoff may never occur. That's one way of justifying the bid. This reminds me of how espn pumped up the sec just before signing a tv contract with them 2 months ago.
Looks as if 2014 is the earliest year for a playoff. I think this is the year when ABC's deal with the Rose Bowl or the Rose Bowl's alliance with the B10 and P10 conferences end.

That;s all nice, I never watch the BCS anyway....season ends for me the first weekend in December....after that it's 100% NFL and the Div IAA and II playoffs.

Are you stating that you have never watched BYU or Navy play in a bowl game?
