..this is s super-interesting game for big ten'ers and vital for osu with psu next week....i usually root for both of these teams to lose, but would like to see osu win to gain momentum for their upcoming showdown with State Penn...but msu qb- when not making bonehead mistakes- throws a very nice ball and their tb is obviously legit and can handle 30 or more carries.... can osu keep powerful msu offense under wraps and does osu have enuf in that vanilla offense other than wells to generate enough scoring against msu's b-grade defense?...any thoughts on this one?

I think OSU defeats MSU by 7 to 10 points and PSU by 1.

Ringer has tired and Hoyer is hot or cold. OSU has been suffering from the injury bug as of late, so their known depth must perform.

Mich will defeat MSU, PSU or OSU but may counter with a loss to Pur or NW. With BYU's loss greatly helping the Big 10 placing 2 teams in the BCS, a 6-6 Mich team will likely play in the Motor City Bowl against the MAC winner.

As "bland" as OSU's offense is with Pryor, they've had few turnovers, and even fewer really "bad" turnovers that puts their D in a bad position.

MSU's D has lived off turnovers for most of the year. If OSU doesnt turn over, they'll eventually grind out a win.

ya, I'll go with Michigan State...any team that can push Ohio State further from any possible title shot should get thank you cards from the national college football television viewing audience

Can't stand Tressel ball. The man has never had an offense worth a damn, they try sit on 3 point leads and wait for other teams to make a 4th qtr mistake. I've never liked teams with that kind of philosophy and always get a kick out of it when someone blows them out. As it is pull against Ohio St every week, not because I hate the program, but I hate the kind of borefest football they play. No way I'd ever buy a season ticket to watch the snoosefest they put on every week.

...the 24-7-365 enthusiasm of osu fans is just remarkable in that state..an admirable thing..so different from most michigan fans quiche and brie with chardonnay aproach to Cf...osu fans are rowdy, beer swilling and wear their fanaticism for all to see...so i wonder deep down if they wish, despite recent top 5 successes under tressel, if they had an offense that would be proportioanl to their own excitement rather than a modernized version of 3 yards and a cloud of dust...yeah, personnel dicatates this somewhat but players are brought into and molded into systems... i would love to see mich st take an early say 17-3 lead and force osu to play uptempo football today...test their mettle in a comeback mode...year after year, depsite similar successes, it was jsut miserable to see lloyd caRRS 40-45 OFF TACKLE HANDOFFS TO THE TB AND SHORT PASSING WITH ALL THAT VERTICAL PASSING AND RECEIVING TALENT STANDING AROUND..OSU FANS GOTTA FEEL SIMILARLY...

I am pretty sure he had a Heisman trophy winning QB a few years back, and the offense fished in the top 25. He's also recruited 4 first round WRs in his tenure.

But I'd rather be Texas Tech, score 50 every week, but never win a conference championship

maybe you missed some games in '04, '05 and '06. I don't remember 'em sitting on 3 pt. leads. They routinely went over 35/40 a game. Tressel isn't a "system" coach, like a Rich Rodriguez. He adapts and plays to his talents.

They're a HELL of a lot funner to watch, that's for damned sure. Ohio St finally looked like a top 10 team for the first time this year, yesterday.

The Big 12 south and SEC east are the enjoyable places for fun football now. Gotta love the spread. The most exciting thing to come to college football since the wishbone.

I care more about winning than fun to watch. But I guess that is a personal opinion.

As for this year, Tressel changed his offense mid season. Not unlike Michigan and Auburn, only not as drastic. The fact that they've havent looked totally inept on offense is a good sign.

Wisconsin, Iowa and MSU are the only BT teams that dont run some sort of spread right now. The BT is finally adapting.

The Big 12 South? Yes, I'd agree.

The SEC East? Like that UGA/Vandy yawner? The only team in the SEC that even catches my attention is Florida. Still cannot beileve someone hasn't taken out 'Bama yet.

I believe Tressel is 79-17 as Ohio State's head coach, that's winning 82% of your games. He's won one NC, played for 2 others, won 4 Big Ten titles, coached a Heisman Trophy winner, had numerous #1 draft picks, a 6-1 record vs Michigan and 7 straight bowl games including 5 BCS bowls. I think Pete Carroll, Mack Brown and Mark Richt may be the only coaches who can rival those stats with the same team over the same stretch of time. Any OSU fan who can't appreciate what Tressel is doing, regardless of his style of play, is for lack of a better word, a moron.

And I have to say, some of my greatest memories over the past 7+ seasons have been those games that OSU had to gut out and win....there were 6 or 7 of them in 2002 alone. It's just been an amazing ride under coach Tressel and I hope it continues for many, many years.

no one really should be complaining about what Tressel has done. Its obvious he knows what he's doing, and certainly adapts. Yes, there have been some black eyes recently, but those were to better teams. You rarely, if ever, see OSU lose games that they shouldn't, i.e. USC/Stanford (or Oregon St.), App St/Michigan. Perhaps that may be because the B10 may be relatively weak. Still, there is something to be said for that.

...first , congrats to osu for an enjoyable, complete battering of sparty...i was on the phone with a buddy in columbus, o. when they went up 21-0 and he was all panicky about msu making a comeback and it going down to the wire...i said, relax--this one ends 38-7.....so, where was that bludgeoning osu d vs usc???...and will they PLEASE defeat the fraudulent naitonal title contneder psu sat. night so we can all be at ease that there will be two worthy teams fighting for that eventaul spot throughout november rather than psu easing into a 12-0 title shot...and a dubious top 5 not to mention to 2 team...Pryor is the remedy for the dull osu O..in a year or two , he will be a vince young-like force in he big 10...OSu hopefully can put this quixotic psu early roun towardss the title game to rest sat night..psu run d is very suspect and i'd pound wells all game and force psu to throw where they are questionbale...treseell is no rigid dummy like lloyd carr- he will work pryor's skills into a more aggressive offense by next season...

2001 - @UCLA. Played decent defense but Bellisari was terrible.
Wisconsin - got up 17-0 and pissed away the game.
@PSU - got up 27-9 and pissed away the game.
Illinois - lead in the 4th quarter but lost late. Illinois was Big Ten champs.
South Carolina - lost in bowl game. Had a great comeback but fell short.

2002 - No losses

2003 - Lost @ Wisconsin on late 82 yard TD pass, 17-10.
Lost @ Michigan, 35-21; only loss to UM.

2004 - Lost in OT @ Northwestern.
Lost to Wisconsin - were manhandled.
Lost @ Iowa. Worse loss in Tressel era in my opinion.
Lost @ Purdue on late TD.

2005 - Lost to Texas. Awesome game.
Lost @ PSU in famous whit out game. 17-10

2006 - Blasted by Florida in BCS championship.

2007 - Lost vs Illinois - bad loss.
Blasted by LSU in BCS Title game.

2008 - Lost @ USC - butt whipping.

They have not lost to many teams ranked lower than them and have only lost 5 home games in 7+ years.

How about the 2003 Purdue game. BJ Sander put on a punting clinic. Won in OT under the lights, as Dustin Fox got a hand on a FG, forcing it just wide.
