Anyone following the NBA playoffs?

I'm a Spurs fan...I was really hoping Golden State would beat the Mavs last night

the Spurs should finish off the Nuggets tonight

I saw the closing minutes of the Mavs game. Looked like a GS win just wasn't "in the script." I picked Dallas to come back from 3-1 but, man, GS just looks like the better, hungrier team. An 8 seed putting the wood to the 1. Why is there a regular season again? (shhhh...I'm trying to draw out Blue Hen :) )

Spurs fan here too. That said, I have a couple of complaints about the NBA's format. 1-What good is a higher seed if it doesn't give you homecourt advantage? and 2-If Golden State upsets Dallas, why should the Utah-Houston winner benefit? Fixed brackets are stupid. We could have 2 vs 3 and 5 vs 8 in the semifinals when we should have 2-8 and 3-5.

I'll agree with that 100%

Meanwhile, the Southeast Division goes a combined 0-12 in the first round. Washington's sweep was excuseable losing their best 2 plays from what was basically a 3 man show. Orlando is still up and coming, and they had to face a veteran team, so I guess they have a "too young" excuse.

But what is up with the Heat? Shaq, Payton, Mourning, Walker and Riley will be gone within a year a two. So Wade will now have as his sidekicks...Jason Williams? Udonis Haslem? Wayne Simien? A man show with no helo. Now Wade will know what Kobe and LeBron have been through the last couple of years.

Interesting to look at the future balance of power. In the East, Cleveland, Chicago, Toronto, Orlando and (when healthy) Milwaukee are all young teams. In the West, the Spurs, Mavs and Suns, while not as elderly as Miami, aren't really young, either. In 5-6 years the East may be back on top.

I'm holding out for a three Texas team Western semi. Dallas wins at GS in game six, they will pull it out. SA just did it and Houston should be able to finish off Utah.

hmmm...that didn't work out...

Can Golden State hang on and beat Utah?

How bout Cleveland? Can they make it to the championship?

A.) Illgauskus will have to hit from the perimeter like he did against.

B.) LeBron will have to find a way to get to the basket, even though he will see nothing but double teams from here on out.

C.) They need to play defense like they did in game 1 vs. NJ.

On a side note, even thoUgh they are both 0-1, who doesn't want to see Golden State vs Phoenix in the WCF (besides Utah and Sa, of course)? How many 130 point halves would we have in that series?

I'll be at today's Game 3 between NJ and Cleveland in the Meadowlands. I predict that the home crowd would be anxious, excited yet desperate for a win. There may be a sellout with LeBron present, but I'm one not hoping to see his 4th quarter dominance, at least today.

How do you know you're a Cleveland sports fan? You get mad even when your players are complimented.

LeBron has been a money player since he stepped foot on an NBA court. There have COUNTLESS times where's he's just taken over a game in the fourth quarter. For every game you see him miss a big shot at the end, there are 2 or 3 games he won by himself. In fact, he's had better playoff games than game 2 vs Jersey. Don't get me wrong, he was great, but his teammates were integral in outrebounding NJ, and the combo of Sasha Pavolic and E. Snow were great on Vince in the fourth quarter in both games. It almost seems like he had to beat a New York team for everyone to validate him as a clutch player. I'm glad that the Skip Bayless' of the world are finally toning it down, I just don't think LB has changed at all.

But I digress. It would be very nice to win at least one in NJ and then close it out in game 5. I thought Chicago had a good chance of evening the series after I saw the first half of game 3. Seems like the Pistons are really struggling without Ben Wallace

aren't the Pistons close to sweeping the series with the Bulls?

I was really pulling for the Warriors after they beat Dallas, but it looks like they're on their way out now....

but I've gotta say, I'm a spurs fan, and things are starting to look pretty good....a win over Phoenix tonight will be great

The  in the Pistons quote was supposed to be an indicator of sarcasm. I thought Big Ben was widely overrated hitting the FA market. Detroit has lost very little with Webber, at a small fraction of the cost.

The team noone seems to be talking about it Utah. If they win in 5, they should have a decent amount of rest heading into SA (or maybe Phx).
