Here's an interesting article by Stewart Mandel on LSU and the draft

As it turns out, the most talented team in college football last season may not have been national champion Florida. Or regular-season No. 1 Ohio State. Or perennially dominant USC.

Over the weekend, NFL coaches and GMs seemed to confirm what many inside college football have believed for some time: That LSU is sitting on a gold mine.

LSU is just frightening. I have them as my pre-season #1.

Dorsey, Jackson, and Doucet next year look to add to that.

Man, it's hard to citicize 11-2, but they should be doing more. They DO have more talent than any college program right now. Reminds me a lot of the FSU teams in the 90's.

Miles isn't stopping either. Their class this year is again loaded with great players. I heard Keiland Williams ran a 4.3 40 at 225lbs!!

They didn't belong in the MNC game last year.....We'll see if Les is really more starting with his own recruits and if he can beat Nick "the *ick Saban" in Bama. I would love to see LSU head to head with USC in the MNC....Total NFL breeding ground

Now, LSU is talent rich, for sure, especially in 06, but there were 7 CF programs that could claim more NFL players on active 2006 opening day rosters. Top 10 :

1) Florida State ( 42 players )
2) Miami (41)
3) Tennessee (40)
4) Georgia (38)
5) Ohio State (38)
6) Michigan (34)
7) Florida (34)
8) LSU (32)
9) Nebraska (30)
10) Penn State (29)

USC, Wisc, & ND - (27)

having LSU as a preseason #1 is questionable. They lost two games last year despite having two of the top 5 players in the draft. One being Jamarcus Russell.
Hard to complain about 11-2, but they certainly were as talented as any team last year.

Guess the coaching isn't worth a damn, then....
