I thought for sure the Nebraska-VT game would be low-scoring. VT's defense should have been good enough to shut down Nebraska, and VT's weak passing offense not good enough to do much damage to the Husker's porous secondary.

Turns out, lots of scoring. Of course, special teams played a part in a lot of it. Tyrod is clearly the #1 and only QB for this team, and they are starting to play pretty well as a unit now.

Well, it was a game between 2 unranked teams, and ultimately the game had little to do with the Hokies main goal of maintaining the ACC championship, but it was still a big win. A win on the road against a legendary program in a legendary stadium is a big win. Not for this year, which is a rebuilding year, but for the program in general. It's a nice notch on the belt that fans and recruiters can brag about.

Nebraska simply does not have the athletes yet to "be back" and certainly not enough to overcome the endless litany of boneheaded mistakes they make on both sides of the ball. And until they can lean on their running game they will remain a has-been program.

... a team on the rise. Bo Pelini is exactly the person the Huskers needed. All of HIS recruits are freshmen. We'll see how this program evolves in just 2008. They're probably going to lose at least three in conference. A 7-5 (possibly 8-4) Husker team will be a good season for the first year coach. It is just a matter of time with Pelini in Lincoln.
