I like having the Thursday night games to look forward to as a warmup to the weekend.

Yeah well, they've got Wednesday night games now too. And teams trying to make a name for themselves are happy to sign up to play when they are the only game to watch.

VT jumped on this Thursday night trend early on. The more they were on TV, the more people (sportswriters) would get a chance to see them, and gain some credibility. Plus, the TV cash is good. Even now, after VT has established itself as a legitimate football program, they still get a couple of Thursday night games a year, and as many games like next year's Alabama-VT made-for-TV early season matchup. National exposure and money. An AD's dream.
