The UNC Ashville kid, Kenny George, has to be the biggest person to ever play basketball.

I heard about the Ashville guy. Someone said he was 7'8 or something.

He is listed 7'7", the same height as George Mureson (spelling?) was for the Washington Bullets. Though Kenny George might weigh more. But from watching that game, it was apparent that lugging that body around was not easy, and he wasn't really effective on offense at all. Smaller guys easily were pushing him out of the lane.
George Mureson for the Bullets (I don't think they were ever the Wizards when he was on the team) was actually a pretty good basketball. He had a very smooth jump shot, and was as agile as a person could be with that frame. I was sad to see how injuries ultimately (and probably inevitably) ended his career. Sadly, he first sustained those injuries making a bad movie with Billy Crystal.
That's a great picture, and it makes you think what it must be like for those 7 foot players to have to look up to someone that much taller than themselves. When I look at someone 7 inches taller than me (and I'm 6'1"), I'm craning my neck. Imagine if you were 7' tall and your entire life you've looked down at people, suddenly needing to use muscles in your neck to look up like that. It has to be a little surreal.
